5 e NTRODUCTON Purpose and scope This report describes geological work performed on the Garnet claim group during 12 days in June, August and September, The work is submitted to the British Columbia Department of Mines to fulfill assessment require- ments on 12 claims for one year. Location The property is situated on two western tributaries of Jack Lee creek 4 miles north of Toodoggone Lake at 57" 28' N, 126" 55' W. 6 2 a copper and weakly positive zinc concentrations in stream sediments. Subsequent prospecting revealed chalcopyrite and bornite mineralization in small calcite veins and as fracture coatings in feldspar porphyry. Method of nvestigation Geological mapping and prospecting was performed by pace and compass traverses controlled by cleared, paced and marked control lines and aerial photographs. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSONS The 34 Garnet claims were staked in 1968 on the strength of high Cu content in stream sediments and Cu showings found in 1967 four miles north of Todoggone Lake. The property is underlain by volcanic feldspar porphyries, andesite and/or basalt and a probable monzonite intrusive (noted in talus and observed in cliffs at a distance). The rocks are highly fractured and faulted. Light chalcopyrite, bornite, trace galena and cobalt mineralization occurs in fractures, faults and as disseminations in porphyritic host rock. The property has been insufficiently examined to form a definite opinion about its economic possibilities.

7 3 RECOMMENDATON A careful examination of numerous rugged outcrops, particularly claims 7, 9, 11, 19, 20 and 22 will determine whether the property contains a possible economic copper deposit. 8 4 PHYSOGRAPHY Elevation on the property ranges from 4500 feet at Jack Lee creek to somewhat over 7000 feet near the southern part of the claims. The rugged upper ground consists of steep cirque walls with prominent fault crevasses, fresh talus composed of finely broken as well as massive rock fragments. Precipitation collects in small cirqte lakes and in rapid streams either flowing ink0 Jack Lee or Uulvaney creeks, tributaries of Toodoggone River. Alpine fir and brush cover the property to an elevation of 5500 feet. GEOLOGY Petrography in 4 groups: Rocks on the Garnet property may be classified 1. Feldspar porphyry: fine to coarse light-grey feldspar laths set in dark-grey to purplish groundmass. 2. Andesite or basalt: fine grained, dense, darkgrey to purple color. e 3. Rhyolite: fine grained, silicious, dense, light coloured, usually found as d'kes. 4. Monzonite: medium to coarse grained, pink color, contains up to 30% dark (hornblende) minerals.

9 5 Petrography (Cont.) variously altered. This rock was found in talus only with its probable source exposed in cliffs above. Generally the rocks are well fractured and The fractures are commonly filled with epidote, serpentine and cries-crossing calcite veinlets. Geologic Structure Faults are prominently exposed in cliff walls and ridges. Two main fault systems and associated rock fracturing trend SW - NE and SE - NW with nearly vertical dips. ECONOMC GEOLOGY Light chalcopyrite and bornite mineralization is widespread throughout the outcrops and talus. Galena and cobalt bloom in calcite float was found on claim 820 and it assayed 0.01% Lo. A sample picked from a 1000 foot long rusty outcrop at the base of cliffs on claims 27 and 28 was analyzed spectrographically, but only iron was detected as the major metal contributor. A selected sample on claim 12 contained finely disseminated bornite in a fine-grained feldspar porphyry approximately 15 feet wide, extending vertically; the sample assayed 0.42% Cu

10 6 Economic Geology (Cont.) and Ag. Most of the showings occur as thin fracture coatings and in fault planes either with or without calcite gangue. The showings are inconspicuous and very careful prospecting is required to detect them. The property has been only partially examined, but the most interesting area appears to be covered by claims 7-12 and
