Route 40. National Weather Service Estimated amount of water equivalent from a measured amount of snowfall. Notes: Most of our volunteers who report daily precipitation totals submit their data directly to Bob Davis or Kristi Gardner (CORN). Data for gages with monthly totals only have been obtained from Scott Kirk at ODNR / Division of Soil and Water Resources or from NWS websites. Daily totals for Port Columbus and Charleston, SC Airports are obtained from NWS websites. The Central Ohio Raingage Network is a group of volunteer precipitation observers who typically report precipitation measurements taken from plastic rain gauges of at least 5-inch capacity. Station I.D. nomenclature is adapted from National Weather Service (NWS) procedure for naming Cooperative Observer stations. The station is identified either by the nearest community or well-known landmark, along with a distance in miles, and direction from that community or landmark, if it exceeds approximately 1 mile. For example, Marion 2N represents a site that is approximately 2 miles north of the City of Marion. If no distance or direction is included with the station I.D., the station is located within the community, or less than 1 mile from the identified landmark. Gage ID numbers from and represent volunteers whose gages are located outside of the 10-county area officially designated by the NWS as the Central Ohio climatic section. The Central Ohio area consists of Marion, Morrow, Union, Delaware, Licking, Madison, Franklin, Fairfield, Fayette and Pickaway Counties. The intent of the precipitation tables in this report is to provide liquid equivalent amounts of precipitation that occurred in the 24 hours prior to the observation time on the date indicated in the table at each gauge site. Since the principal author of this report currently resides outside of the Central Ohio area, and does not personally experience the reported storms, it is not possible to positively confirm the dates of the storms as presented in this report. For future reference purposes, minor allowances may need to be made at times for defining actual dates of historical CORN rainfall amounts. Copies of past CORN reports can be obtained from the CORN website, or by contacting CORN Administrative staff. Data for Gages 18, 62, 74, 88, 108, 111, and 113 were not available at the time of publication. CORN Administrative Staff Bob Davis, Founder and Director Kristi Gardner, Assistant Director Emily Davis, Website Designer and Manager Thanks also to CORN storm spotters Cathy Peterfish and Becky Stamm, who send alerts during significant storm events.
