Scientific Notation: Numbers are expressed as some quantity between 1 & 10 multiplied by 10 raised to some exponent N = A x 10 m N = any number A = coefficient between 1 & 10, can be positive or negative, must be greater than 1 or equal to 1 and less than 10 Remember only significant figures are expressed in Scientific Notation! 10 = called the base m = integer, positive, negative or zero Convert to Scientific Notation 18.1 = = 1,445 = 0.33 = Convert from Scientific Notation 3.80 x 10-5 = 6 x 10 3 = 5.46 x 10 6 = x 10-2 = OVER Page 1
