Spielvogel, Ph.D., McGraw Hill/ Glencoe, 2005 DESCRIPTION: World Studies presents insights on events, leaders, and social movements that have impacted our world. Concepts relating to law, society, power, and world views are addressed. Additionally, physical and cultural geography are included. GOALS/ OUTCOMES: 1. Provide a context to analyze and understand modern societies. 2. Develop awareness and appreciation for world cultures. 3. Show students that history is a useful record of human experiences. 4. Provide an understanding of how geography impacts the human condition. 5. Develop awareness and appreciation for ideas in art, invention, and social movements. 6. Explain how major historical periods relate to our modern world. REQUIREMENTS: Assignments IMC Activities Quizzes and Tests Class Participation Video Summaries Extra Credit Class discussions
2 REQUIRED STUDENT MATERIALS: Notebooks Pens and pencils Folder Binder (1 ½ Inch) EVALUATION: Grades will be determined based on a percentage of total points. Each activity, assignment, quiz, project, and test will be assigned a specific value.
