3 Rivers Edge POA Hurricane Procedures August 2017 GENERAL ITEMS The Golf Course is responsible for announcing the closing of the course to the public and securing their property items. Rivers Edge Security Guards may be instructed to leave the premises. (CATEGORY 2, 3, 4 & 5 STORMS ONLY) approximately 36 hours prior to the projected landfall timing. Rivers Edge POA policies will in no manner, conflict with or override the policies of US Security. In the event of hurricane power will be removed from the automated gates to cause them to fail in the open position and they will remain open until after the storm has passed and power is restored. The Copas Road construction entrance will be opened as an alternative exit/entrance during the timeframe of power removal for the automated gates. Please be aware that the RE community will be open to free access during this timeframe and extra precautions and awareness are advised. PRE-HURRICANE ACTIVITY The following are the procedures that will take place in advance to a hurricane event in our area: Post hurricane season information on RE Website and RE Hurricane Procedure to all residents and property owners. Review the Association s and personal Insurance coverage and emergency numbers. Prepare to expedite any filing of any necessary claims. Hurricane Preparation Committee will review the RE Hurricane Procedure and revise and update as necessary. Review list of contractors who will be of assistance in case of an event. Prepare list of available resident resources that could be made available during or after an emergency e.g. saws, portable generators, sump or floor pumps, etc.

4 PRE-STORM ACTION ITEMS Access or local television websites to track the progress and projected path of the upcoming hurricane. Review and complete the Hurricane Emergency Kit Checklist. Inventory and purchase necessary items to secure homes and RE amenities. Items should include: plastic bags, duct tape, screws, washers, bolts, flashlights, batteries, gloves, goggles, rain gear, utility knifes, etc. Contracted vendors for assistance may include: lawn/tree service, Waste Management, glass companies, plumber, electrician, handyman labor services, etc. Assemble and post information notices including RE POA Hurricane Procedure and Emergency Evacuation plan on the RE website and River hall. Coordinate plans with the Rivers Edge Golf Course. Examine common areas and secure possible problems that could become projectiles. Items may include: signs, grills, lounge chairs, umbrellas, plants, garbage cans, bicycle racks, light fixtures, globes and any loose items around the property. Make storage arrangements for above items. Do not trim trees or create any debris that can not be safely removed or secured prior to a storm. Ensure all items on Hurricane Emergency Kit Checklist are stored and any potential projectile is stored in a safe area. Assure that all supplies and necessary materials are purchased and on site. Secure personal property located throughout the community. Outdoor furniture, potted plants, bird feeders, and decorative ornaments should be moved indoors or secured in place. Meet with Hurricane Preparation Committee and/or Block Captains to ensure areas and residences are secure. Relocate outdoor grills to inside areas Relocate all umbrellas and outdoor furniture to a secure location. Relocate all trash containers to an inside area of River Hall. Remove or secure pool cleaning and safety equipment to fence. Inspect all signage for security, if not able to withstand strong winds remove signage. Relocate front porch furniture to inside River Hall. Close all interior doors to prevent possible damage expanding to other areas. As winds increase, it may be necessary to tape off large windows. Secure tennis court fences and tie-up wind screens Shut off irrigation systems. Shut off pumps and fountains in community ponds.

5 Cover all sensitive equipment including: copiers, fax machine and all other electrical equipment. Keep equipment a minimum of 12 inches off of the floor. Move and store all portable equipment, books, files and binders. Remove flags from outdoor areas Contact RE Hurricane Preparation Committee to ensure emergency evacuation plan is in place. Provide up-to-date emergency contact information by Flash messages and RE website to residents, property owners and to security staff. Ensure all personal property is secure. Do NOT turn off the power to the elevators. Power is only to be turned off in the event that there is a loss of power for more than 15 minutes and the power is to be turned back on when power to the buildings is restored. Ensure storm drains and drop inlets are clear of debris (mostly pine straw) in areas need your home. POST HURRICANE ACTIVITY The following will take place after a hurricane event: Check on status of Rivers Edge residents. If there is damage to your home, contact your insurance company, take pictures and contact you Block Captain. Inspect property and develop list of remediation requirements Complete emergency remediation Contact outside contractors as required Coordinate return of property to normal operations. Communication remediation plan to residents and property owners via Flash e- mails and RE website. Include property status and remediation summary, debris and tree removal and damage repair. The Rivers Edge Property Maintenance Committee will arrange with landscape and tree service contractors to respond, as quickly as possible, to the needs of the Rivers Edge Community after a storm has occurred. Listed below are the prioritized actions to be undertaken by the contractors in their response: The first priority activity will be the clearing of all roadways of any fallen trees and/or other large debris that would block access to the property by emergency personnel and equipment. Such trees and/or debris will be removed and placed to the side of the road or on a vacant lot. The second priority activity will be to clear smaller sized debris from the primary property entrance, River Hall area and the roadways. Power blowers and/or street

6 type sweepers will be utilized to clear this smaller debris from the roads and the storm water drains. The third priority activity will be to clear all walking paths of debris. The fourth priority activity will be the performance of a general clean-up of all other community common property and facilities including all roadway islands, drainage swales and run-off containment areas, parking lots, tennis courts, etc. Individual property owners should accumulate and place all storm debris from their home site at the roadway curbside (not on the paved roadway surface). This debris will be removed and chipped by the landscape contractor. The timing of this debris removal and chipping is fully dependent upon the magnitude of the storm and higher priority activities. After a hurricane event: o Check with all neighbors to see if any help is needed due to injury, damage, trees down or debris. Contact necessary emergency service or contractor. o Help with the replacement of outdoor items, if needed.

8 Preparing for a Hurricane All residents should assemble an Emergency Kit. And emergency kit should enable you to survive for at least three days until the hurricane has past. Bottled water Flashlights Canned/dried foods A dry change of clothes Blankets Garbage bags Battery power radio First aid kit Duct tape Evacuation plan Whistle Cell phone Cash Spare car keys Full tank of gas Utility knifes Waterproof matches Necessary documentation (ie: insurance contact information, family contact information, medication) Residents should also: Make a family/friend communication plan Prepare and rehearse evacuation plan Plan for pets Prepare and evacuation route and a safe place
