13 Preventative Measures for our Utilities To protect the City s water distribution system and to prevent additional damage from occurring due to water line breaks, specific areas within the distribution system should be isolated prior to a hurricane. These areas of isolation are specific to the category of Hurricane and based upon Mandatory Evacuation of those areas. Isolation of specific water lines and shut down of certain lift stations would prevent unnecessary sewer overflows from occurring reducing the risk of additional public health issues.
