31 Other Participants in the Restoration Effort
32 Interesting Fault Case 1 DuPont Switch-Rincon #2138kV line Faults: 33 cycle LG to LLG fault duration Why so long? DuPont end tripped at 28.5 cycles Rincon end tripped at 33 cycles DCB Blocking present until 26 cycles Why? Fault cause = broken jumper on C phase at DuPont end. Thus, no current on C phase at DuPont end until fault flashes over at that end. Non-directional 3I0 DCB Start at DuPont end caused Blocking and delayed Rincon end trip. Fault starts Fault clears at Rincon C ph = 0 amps Fault now flashes at DuPont Switch end Fault clears at DuPont Switch
33 Interesting Fault Case 2 Lon Hill-White Point 345kV line Faults: Initial CG fault clears by 87L in 2 cycles. Note all currents in-phase like a GSU with no Generation output. This occurred when the only true source to White Point was the Beeville 69kV source. Fault cause = Static wire down near White Point end. Auto-reclose from this weak source end with fault present eventually trips by Line Pickup in 13.5 cycles. Line Pickup OP
34 Interesting Fault Case 2 Lon Hill-White Point 345kV line Faults: Auto-reclose from this weak source end with fault not present until a short time later. Fault is now below the 87L pickup and Line Pickup is disabled and the fault is not consistently there. Fault finally produces a Z1G element trip at 1.74 seconds after the fault first re-appeared. Fault re-appears Z1G trip
