The conditions in the forest are extremely dry and a wildfire will ignite easily and spread very quickly. Use caution and report wildfires immediately by calling 310 FIRE(3473). Rain is in the forecast for today however until there is rain on the ground conditions in the forest will remain dry. Smoke The northeast wind has caused smoke from the wildfires in Lac La Biche to drift into the Slave Lake Forest Area. If you are experiencing respiratory difficulties as a result of the smoke, please visit Alberta Health Link or dial 811. Visit to view the most current smoke forecast

Weather For today the forecast is calling for cooler temperatures and winds out of the northeast kilometres per hour. Some rain is expected for areas south of Lesser Slave Lake. 3 Slave Lake Area Update Page 3 of 7 Photo of Old Smith Highway wildfire at 11:30 am May 30th Yesterday firefighters, helicopters and airtankers fought a wild?re at kilometre 50 on the Old Smith Highway. It is on the west side of the Athabasca River about 6.8 kilometres northwest of Smith. Airtankers were able to stop it from spreading. After the smoke cleared the wildfire was accurately measured and it is 2.7 hectares. It is being held and 17 firefighters with a helicopter are fighting this wildfire. There is no threat to communities at this time. The cause is under investigation. SWF O53May 29, 12:00pm Airtankers were used this morning to soak the north end of the wildfire. This photo was taken after the airtankers completed their mission. Slave Lake Wildfire Number 53 is located approximately 17 kilometers southwest of Loon Lake, and 28 kilometers east of Little Buffalo, on highway 986. At 4:00 pm yesterday firefighters declared this wildfire being held. Being held means that the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past expected boundaries, under the current weather conditions and http2//srd.web.alberta.ca/slave-lake-area update

4 OC Slave Lake Area Update Page 4 of 7 firefighting efforts. The wildfire was accurately measure and is 76 hectares in size. Heavy equipment has built a fire guard around the entire wildfire. Helicopters with buckets and firefighters are working to extinguish smouldering ground fires along the edges of the wildfire. Currently there are two heavy equipment groups, three helicopters, and 46?re?ghters?ghting this wildfire. There is no immediate threat to any of the surrounding communities at this time. Smoke may drift across highway 986. Before travelling on this highway visit berta.ca for the latest information on the road conditions. Lac La Biche Wildfire Number 119 at approx ha - 42 per cent contained The wild?re started May 23, 2018, and remains approximately 12 km east of LWF O99,along the Athabasca River. The wild?re is west of McMillan Lake. No communities are at risk. Today, firefighters will focus on the north perimeter, looking for smouldering ground fires, while six helicopters bucket on the south perimeter. Airtankers are also working on this wildfire. A Fire Ban and Off HighwayVehicle Restriction is in effect for the Slave Lake Forest Area including the Town of Slave Lake, Town of High Prairie and Big Lakes County. All fire permits are suspended and no new fire permits will be issued. Prohibited - All open fires including campfires in campgrounds, backcountry and random camping areas and backyard fire pits. - Charcoal briquettes, turkey fryers and tiki torches. - Fireworks and exploding targets. - The use of off highway vehicles for recreational use on all public lands. Allowed - Portable propane fire pits that are CSA approved or UL certi?ed. - Gas or propane stoves and barbecues that are CSA approved or UL certified and are designed for cooking or heating. - Catalytic or infrared style heaters.
