The Cardinal of Stanford have recorded 189 points this winter, after scoring second in women s swimming, 28 th in wrestling, 45 th in women s track and field and 47 th in men s track and field. Florida is in second place after capturing the women s swimming and men s track and field championships. The Gators also finished fourth in women s track and field, giving them a winter total of 280 points and an overall total of 548 points. In third with points is Penn State. The Nittany Lions placed in women s track and field, men s track and field, women s swimming and wrestling for a winter total of 203 points. Virginia dropped to fourth place overall with 518 total points. The Cavaliers placed ninth in women s swimming, 15 th in wrestling and 20 th in men s track and field for 181 points in the first winter Division I standings. Minnesota makes its first appearance in the top five with total points. The Gophers recorded three top-10 finishes in women s ice hockey (third), wrestling (seventh) and men s track and field (eighth). They also placed 12 th in women s swimming and 39 th in women s track and field. To date, seven winter NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: Florida (women s swimming and men s track and field), Oregon (women s track and field), Iowa (wrestling), Texas Christian captured the National Collegiate (NC) rifle title, Denver captured the NC skiing championship and Cornell had the highest finish of a Division I institution in the NC sport of women s ice hockey (second). The Learfield Sports Directors Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven women s and seven men s. The next Division I winter standings will be released Thursday, April 8, Please note, standings published midseason are unofficial. Official standings will be published upon the completion of the spring season.
