The diversity of our scienific experise enables us to carry out large- scale, muli- disciplinary invesigaions and provide imparial scienific informaion to resource managers, planners, and other customers.

Private/Community Well depth range up to 1,000 X Gas test wells drilled from about 1,800 to 5,300 X bls. Yield range from 1/5 to 100 gal/ min. Groundwater quality records from NC DHHS lab and County Public Health Depts.

Sampling Plans Detailed sampling of ~10 private and public supply wells near the two gas test wells and a large area within study area boundaries.

Dissolved methane (+ other gases), methane/ethane gas isotopes, major ions (inorganics/metals), VOCs, radium, stronium isotopes, dissolved inorganic carbon, total organic carbon, dissolved stable isotopes. Dissolved methane (+other gases) and major ion sampling in ~40 private wells. AddiIonal wells to be sampled by Duke University.

Contact selected well owners to schedule date of sampling (March- April). See Descrip+on of Sampling Procedures handout *Nearly 60 well owners have contacted the USGS. If outside the study area, logged into secondary list if study expands.
