2 B- Professional Information 1- Overall aims of course 1- Develop wide background in knowledge related to the different branches of chemistry, to serve as preparation for graduate work in chemistry. 2- Utilize chemistry facts and theories to analyze and interpret practical data. 3- Provide students with a knowledge and base from which they can proceed (if so desired) to further studies in specialized areas of chemistry or multidisciplinary areas involving chemistry and participate effectively in research activities. 4- Deal with scientific data in English. 5- Develop knowledge and experience of practical and advanced laboratory techniques. So that they can understand and assess risks and work safely in the laboratory. 14- Demonstrate a broad education in fundamental aspects in different branches of chemistry, to serve as preparation for graduate work in chemistry. 2- Intended learning outcomes of course (ILOs) a. Knowledge and a1. Identify integrated knowledge and comprehension of the theories, facts, concepts, fundamentals and techniques related to the fields of physical chemistry. a2. Characterize the chemical nature and properties of the functional groups in different types of molecules with special focus on insecticides.

3 b. Intellectual c. Professional and Practical d. General and Transferable a3. Demonstrate the chemistry of biological molecules to determine their biological functions. b1. Connect between qualitative and quantitative scientific data relevant to the various subjects of chemistry and entomology. B2. Postulate and deduce mechanisms and procedures to deal with scientific problems relevant to contemporary approaches in entomology and chemistry. b3. Analyze quantitative data from graphs, figures, tables, equations and other sources of information. c1. Perform investigations using appropriate techniques in accordance with the standard scientific guide lines. c2. Handle chemical materials safely, particularly insecticides, and conduct risk assessments taking into account their physical and chemical properties to avoid the hazards, to users and environment, associated with their use. c3. use standard laboratory procedures and techniques. c4. Search and evaluate the validity and relevance of literature in a critical thinking approach. d1. Use information and communication technology effectively. d2. Identify roles and responsibilities, delegate tasks, and set clear guidelines and performance indicators. d3. Think independently, and solve problems on scientific basis. d4.
