To prepare the student with a sound understanding of the fundamental principles of pharmaceutical compounds with respect to related subjects in next course level. Teach students to deal with the reactions of organic compounds and with the investigation of their properties. Teach students structure elucidation using different spectrometry 1
2 3- Intended Learning Outcomes of Course(ILOs) a-knowledge and Understanding: a-l. Reasoning and thinking systematically in solving problems and making decisions in subjects involving chemical reactions. Attainment of this learning outcome will be reflected by the student's ability to: Understand the chemical logic behind the different techniques involved in reaction mechanisms. a-2. Apply a basic understanding of the systematic methods of scientific inquiry, principles and procedures to investigate problems. Attainment of this learning outcome will be reflected by student's ability to: use chemical logic to identify potential interactions between organic molecules. b-intellectual b-1. To communicate matters of organic chemistry with clarity: Attainment of this learning outcome will be reflected by the student's ability to complete successfully written and oral assignment and examinations. b-2. To become familiar with current pharmaceutical organic journals. Write a paper on a current topic by gathering information from current pharmaceutical journals. c- Professional and practical c-1. Identification and analysis of functional groups of compounds c-2. Confirmation of purity of pharmaceutical organic compounds d- General and Transferable d-1. Be able to think how to use chemical reaction to synthesize target pharmaceutical organic compounds. d-2. Be able to think which suitable spectrometric tool and how to use it to elucidate the chemical structure of the newly synthesized compounds. 2
