2 Microwave assisted synthesis and antibacterial properties of some new 2-alkyl/aryl-(6-substitutedcoumarin-3-yl)imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazoles A series of 2-alkyl/aryl-(6-substitutedcoumarin-3- yl)imidazo[2,1-b][1,3,4] thiadiazoles 3a-o have been synthesized by reacting 3-(2-bromoacetyl)-6-substitutedcoumarins 1 with various 5-alkyl/aryl-2-amino-1,3,4- thiadiazoles 2 under normal thermal condition as well as microwave irradiation. Allyl ether of phenols is selectively deprotected in preference to alcohols.
