4 Liver Meridian Figure 15 Water Figure 16 Directional Flow The Direction of this meridian is up. Starting in the big toes, the Liver meridian goes up the insides of the legs, into the sexual glands (Women and Men) irrigating everything on it's path with energy, including of course the Liver. The loop through the sexual glands is often omitted or censored from most modern day Liver Meridian charts. This Hieroglyph describes the way that water moves and behaves, through a pictorial description: strong on the inside/weak on the outside. It conforms to obstacles with ease, but it can penetrate very dense materials. The Hieroglyph is very similar to the Chinese Trigram symbol for water, which is present in the I Ching Symbol. 2002

The Meridians carry energy to each of the organs in the body.there are 12 basic meridians in the body "They are the body's main river flows of energy... energy plus organ equals function, every cell needs energy to keep it alive." The little dots on the meridians (acupuncture points) represent different places where energy is exchanged with the cosmos. Each meridian is linked with one specific element. 2002

Generation Cycle Control Cycle In practical use, notice how these cycles are used in conjunction with the chart above. One example is how deep breathing helps to control nervousness. Deep breathing stimulates the lungs, (Metal Element) which controls the nerves (Wood Element).
