CLASSIC SPRING VOYAGES In spring the sun returns to rejuvenate the Norwegian shores and temperatures begin rising as life returns to the land. Days become longer and springtime colours infuse the landscape as the Arctic grip recedes. At this time, interesting presentations will be held and activities arranged both on board and on land. You can choose between a 6, 7, 11 and 12-day spring cruise. The ports that are visited by night on the Voyage North are visited by day on the Voyage South. In the larger towns and cities you will have plenty of time to go ashore or join our varied excursions. Below you will find spring highlights, the day to day itinerary, and prices. Travel Period - April - May Duration - 6,7,11 or 12 Days Ship - Hurtigruten Fleet

For example, a snowmobile trip in Lapland, a stay at the Snow Hotel and dog sledging. Sail into the spectacular Lyngenfjord, known as the Paris of the North The unique migratory bird-life at this time of the year. As part of our spring programme, you can participate in several on board activities and shore. excursions focusing on Norway s seaand birdlife. See the beautiful Trollfjord. Exploring Norway in the hands of experts Join us on a journey of discovery into the heart and soul of Norway s beautiful coast. These unique Norway coastal expedition voyages are accompanied by a Hurtigruten expedition team; seasoned travellers, modern-day explorers, and kindred spirits in their love of adventure. Experts in their respective fields, these specialists will passionately present you with insights into Norway s culture, wildlife, and nature; all to enhance your journey of inner and outer discovery. On board one of our expedition ships, we will give you the opportunity to explore the region and local culture in a more active way, with excursions, an exclusive Hiking Pass and exciting on board activities that vary by season. The expedition of a lifetime Choose from a wide range of optional onshore activities which add special, unforgettable experiences to your trip. As there is so much to see and do, you won t be able to do all the hikes of the Hiking Pass plus all the excursions on o er in one trip, but you can still pick and mix those that appeal to the explorer within. The onboard programme consists of tastings of local fresh produce and daily lectures on a range of topics such as glaciology, natural phenomena, Viking history, Nordic folklore and so much more. A er a heady day of active adventure and hiking, what better way to finish the day than relaxing and sharing a drink with your expedition team at the bar or the panorama lounge. Exchange tales of exploration over photos, socialise with your fellow travellers, enjoy a cultural performance, and whet your appetite for the next day s many exciting experiences. Hiker s heaven

The Itinerary Learn more about what you will experience on the Classic Roundtrip Voyage. The day-by-day programme will give you a few ideas about what you can see and do on your coastal voyage, but bear in mind that this itinerary is just an indication of what you can experience. After all, this is a sailing where the elements rule and weather conditions might vary, which is why every expedition with Hurtigruten is unique. DAY 1 April May Departs From: Bergen, Norway The journey begins in the gateway to the fjords Location: Bergen - Embarkation Take time to explore Bergen before we depart. In the evening, your Hurtigruten voyage sets sail through the Hjeltefjord, following in the wake of the Vikings who ventured from here to the Shetland Islands and beyond.
DAY 2 A day for architectural and natural masterpieces Location: Alesund Enjoy the nature of the coastline as you sail towards Alesund, a city renowned for its Art Nouveau architecture.
DAY 3 Discover medieval spirit in the old capital Location: The Royal City of Trondheim In Trondheim, be sure to enjoy the views from the Gamle Bybrua ("Old Town Bridge"), which dates back to Nidaros Cathedral, built between 1070 and 1300, is Norway's largest Gothic edifice. In the afternoon you set a northwest course, passing the beautiful Kjeungskjaer lighthouse and numerous charming islets and rocky outcrops.
DAY 4 Welcome to the Arctic! Location: Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands This morning you cross the Arctic Circle and by evening you reach the Lofoten Islands. This archipelago is renowned for its many quaint, picturesque fishing villages surrounded by majestic mountains.
DAY 5 Feeling like a polar hero Location: Tromso, the gateway to the Arctic After a stop in Harstad you continue via Finnsnes to Tromso for a longer stay. Many of the epic Arctic expeditions used Tromso as a starting point. Why not join us on an optional miniature kayak expedition!
DAY 6 At the top of the world - North Cape Location: Honningsvag and the North Cape Our day starts by sailing through Mageroysund before an early stop in Hammerfest. After a brief stop in Havoysund you arrive in Honningsvag, the gateway the spectacular North Cape. Visiting the North Cape Plateau on an optional excursion, you get an eerie sense of being at the end of the world. As well as being continental Europe's northernmost point this area is also known for its birdlife, and springtime is when the birds return. Before Kjollefjord a local fisherman will demonstrate traditional fishing techniques out on deck.
DAY 7 Capital of the Barents Region and turning point Location: Kirkenes, The voyage turning point The last port of the northbound voyage is Kirkenes. At longitude 30 E, you are actually further east than Istanbul and St. Petersburg. In spring you may still be able to participate in our winter activities and excursions. As we turn south, the northbound ports previously visited at night can now be seen by day. In the afternoon the ship docks in Vardo, Norway's easternmost port. Weather permitting, we may invite you to experience ice bathing in the Arctic Ocean! Local divers will display and lecture about the life in the ocean out on deck.
DAY 8 Surrounded by excitement Location: Lyngenfjord, Hammerfest and Tromso Why not start the day with breakfast at North Cape?In spring we sail into the spectacular Lyngenfjord on our way to Tromso, known as 'the Paris of the North'. As we arrive in this charming city you maychoose to book a seat at the Midnight Concert at the Arctic Cathedral, oryou could check out one of the town's many friendly pubs. Our next stop, Hammerfest, was founded in 1789, and in its time was Norway's polar capital, acting as a base for hunting expeditions to the high Arctic. In the majestic Lyngen Alps area we sometimes rendezvous with a local shrimp trawler. Our next stop will be Tromso, where you can enjoy The Arctic Cathedral whilst attending an optional midnight concert..
DAY 9 Lofoten, where nature amazes Location: Vesteralen and Lofoten Islands The Vesteralen and Lofoten Islands are amongst today's highlights. In the morning we transit Risoyrenna, a channel that was specially made for Hurtigruten. You continue through the narrow Raftsund, the picturesque channel between the Vesteralen and Lofoten Islands, where you'll take a detour into the spectacular Trollfjord where steep cliffs hug the ship's sides (time and weather permitting). Here you can also join our optional spectacular Sea Eagle Safari.
DAY 10 Enjoy a date with the Seven Sisters Location: Arctic Circle, Seven sisters The Helgeland coast with its hundreds of islets, fertile farmland and steep granite walls is rich in local lore. Legends include that of the Seven Sisters - a row of mountain peaks, and of how an arrow fired by the troll Hestmannen formed the hole in Torghatten mountain.
DAY 11 In cod we trust Location: Trondheim and Kristiansund Leaving Trondheim in the morning, passing the islands of Munkholmen and Hitra, we stop at Kristiansund, then cross the open sea to Molde, known as the 'city of roses' with its unusually rich, lush plant life courtesy of its Gulf Stream location.
DAY 12 Final chapter of the fairy tale Location: Bergen, Disembarkation This morning, you still have a few nautical miles of fascinating scenery ahead. We sail through the Bergen archipelago before arriving in Bergen itself, which has given its visitors a warm welcome for more than 900 years.
