Stand for the pledge of Allegiance Approval of Minutes: MOTION by Mr. Gomric to approve the minutes of the September 25, 2017 Second by Mr. Tieman. Vote: 6 Yes 0 No Motion Carried.
2 Page 2 St. Clair County Animal Services (October 30, 2017) New Business: Jim Jacquot announced to the committee the Spay/Neuter clinic was October 14, We had a total of 188 pets, this clinic was a pre registration only due to a limited amount of funds, but we had a good turnout. The statistics for September where really good, we ended up with an eighty six percent live release rate. This month isn t running quite as good, but it is still pretty good. Steve Reeb, asked if Animal Services had any trouble with space. James Jacquot replied the kennels are pretty much full all of the time. We have stopped taking in animals a couple times a week when we are full. Open Discussion: Jamie Case, Gateway Pet Guardian asked what you think that is caused from. James Jacquot, replied, there is no way to really tell, we don t have any more owner surrenders than normal, it is just a lot of strays, a lot of pit bulls. Jamie Case, Gateway Pet Guardian stated that they are talking about the Santa Parade and maybe doing something with the advocates, Gateway Pet Guardians will be in it so trying to figure out what the message is that we want to get out there to the people. James Jacquot replied, TNR. I think whatever information we can get out on that will help. I think that is going to be a big part of it, because that s going to be individuals doing it what they call the neighborhood TNR people, rather than organizations. We ran into quite a few people that have been doing that for years just in their neighborhoods. I don t know if any of them would be interested in being organized, they just want to work their neighborhoods. Jamie Case, Gateway Pet Guardian asked if the county has resources for printing. When I was throwing this idea around with Shelia talking about the cost in doing a float or whatever, and passing information out, so printing cost and thousands of people there. If we could get some kind of flyer printed on TNR even if it s just a quarter page or something like that.
3 Page 3 St. Clair County Animal Services (October 30, 2017) Mark Kern, St. Clair County Chairman replied our print shop does packets. Memorial Hospital sometimes helps us out if we have a flyer that we need put together. James Jacquot stated that the Belleville News Democrat does our printing for our events. Shelia Ford, SCCAWA asked how many adoptions did you do. James Jacquot replied we did nineteen last month, which is about normal between eighteen and twenty two. Shelia Ford SCCAWA asked how many dogs. James Jacquot replied nine dogs, two cats, five kittens, three puppies. Frank Heiligenstein asked James Jacquot have you seen any recent laws that are coming down the pipe regarding animal control. James Jacquot replied no not at all other than the pet population money the governor signed a law stating we can use that for TNR. Shelia Ford SCCAWA asked if there was any information on the UV lights. James Jacquot replied the contractor was there this morning, they have already purchased them. It is just the installation now. MOTION to adjourn by Mr. Boch. Second by Mr. O Donnell. Motion carried. Note: Carol Clark was absent during the roll call, she was present for the open discussion.
