3 RS- COMMANDS General Information: Data Rate: Parity: Word length: Handshake: Connections: Data Entry Protocol: Command Codes:,00 baud None data bits, stop bit No RTS/CTS handshaking simple wire (Rx, Tx, Gnd) interface The serial buss should follow a standard serial communications protocol using Line oriented ASCII data stream. The command line must be followed with a carriage return for the unit to respond. The unit should not echo characters received back to the host. Character Range Function Example X: 0, Power Off / On X = Power On, X0 = Power Off T:, Tuner # T = Tuner, T = Tuner B:, Band # B = AM, Band = FM P: 00-0 Preset # P0 = Preset, P0 = Preset 0, P00 (just for status) = No Preset Selected F: numbers Frequency Setting F00 = 0 AM, F0 = 0. FM A: 0, Seek Up / Down A0 = Seek Down, A = Seek Up M: 0, Step Up / Down M0 = Step Down step, M = Step Up step S: Signal Lock / = locked, 0 = not S00 (just for status) = no signal, no stereo, S0 = invalid Stereo Presence = stereo, 0 = mono S0 = signal lock (mono), S = signal lock (stereo) Q: Query status ask for tuner status Q = Status of Tuner, Q = Status of Tuner of tuner Q = Status of both tuners, then N: 0, Preset Step Up / Down N0 = Step Down Preset, N = Step Up Preset L: 0-0 Set Preset L0 = Set Station as Preset # Command Examples: TBP0<cr> would command tuner # to select band (FM) and tune to FM preset # TBF00L0<cr> would command tuner # to set AM frequency 00 khz as AM preset # This command however, would not change the current station tuned on Tuner # To select a station to be tuned and THEN set that station as a preset, would require two commands: TBF00<cr> would command tuner # to select band (AM) and tune to frequency 00 khz. TL0<cr> would command tuner to set the currently tuned station (in this example AM 00) as AM preset # Query Example: Q<cr> would solicit the following response: Feedback as to the status of tuner #, which would include band select, station preset, frequency tuned, signal lock and stereo presence. The response string would look like this: TBP00F0S T (tuner ) B (FM), P00 (no preset selected), F0 (frequency 0. MHz), S (signal lock & stereo) Shortcut Commands: Note: examples below are assuming Tuner is in FM stereo mode and tuned to a station Command Response/Action TN<cr> Tuner would step up to the next higher preset number TL0<cr> Tuner would set the currently tuned station as FM preset # TS0<cr> Tuner would switch the FM mode to mono TM<cr> Tuner would step up the frequency 0. MHz TA0<cr> Tuner would go into "seek down" mode TB<cr> Tuner would go to AM mode and tune to the last previously tuned AM station
