Even 15 minutes spent clearing out some clothes that no longer fit is an accomplishment! Start with your worst closet or your best or just one that needs a little love. Your goal this month is to just make some progress in a closet or two. Everyone has a closet that needs a little attention and this is the month to take care of them. I m going to share three tips for cleaning out closets - I hope you find some inspiration and motivated to just start! QUICK DECLUTTER + CLEAN Alright, this is where I tell you to dump everything out and get rid of half of it. Ha! Not really, but set a timer for 15 minutes and quickly go through your clothes or closet items. If you have shelves in the closet, wipe them down before putting anything back and vacuum that floor while you re at it. Closets can be dust collectors, make sure you re thoroughly dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning it now. Put back only what fits, what you wear, and what you use. Don t be afraid to get rid of that dress you haven t worn in ten years! HANGERS This is such a small detail but it s huge when it comes to organizing closets. Start by making sure your hangers are all going the same direction. Then if you want to upgrade your closet, make sure your hangers match. This is the time to recycle those dry cleaner hangers. Choose hangers that you love and fit your space and budget. I love the slim felt-coated hangers - clothes stay on and they save tons of space but I have dark wood hangers in our coat closet because they look nice and the thicker hangers keep the creases out of the coats. CONTAIN, CONTAIN If you have like items, group them together. Then put those items together in a container. It might be a basket or a bin or a shoebox. Putting items together will make it easier for you and your family members to find items and it keeps your closet looking and feeling neat and tidy.... i t i s i n t h e e v e r y d a y t h i n g s a r o u n d u s t h a t t h e b e a u t y o f l i f e l i e s. - L a u r a I n g a l l s W i l d e r
