MAJOR PERFORMANCE TOURS, SUMMER BAND CAMPS, WORKSHOPS S t u d e n t s a r e e l i g i b l e t o t a k e 100% of the total cost out of their name to pay for the c o s t o f t h e i r p a r t i c i p a t i o n. GRADE A (100-90) Students who do an exceptional job participating in choir earn an A. T h i s i n c l u d e s r e s p e c t f u l a t t e n t i o n t o t h e t e a c h e r, c o n s i s t e n t p r o g r e s s i n l e a r n i n g m u s i c a n d o v e r c o m i n g c h a l l e n g e s, a n d d e s i r e t o c o n t r i b u t e t o a p e r f o r m a n c e t h e y w i l l b e p r o u d o f. A l l r e q u i r e d l e s s o n s a r e a t t e n d e d a n d w e l l - p r e p a r e d f o r. GRADE D (60-69) Students who neglect many of their choir responsibilities earn a D. N o p r o g r e s s i s m e a s u r a b l e b e t w e e n e a c h a t t e n d e d l e s s o n. GRADE F (BELOW 60) Students who neglect nearly all of their choir responsibilities earn an F. T h e s e s t u d e n t s a r e d i s r e s p e c t f u l t o t h e t e a c h e r a n d f e l l o w s t u d e n t s! R e q u i r e d l e s s o n s a n d p e r f o r m a n c e s a r e m i s s e d a n d d i s r e g a r d e d. N o p r i d e o r r e s p e c t!
6 WARRIOR CHORUS CLASS MEETING TIME: MTWThF 12:27-1:10 T h e g o a l o f t h e W a r r i o r C h o r u s i s t o p r o v i d e s t u d e n t s w i t h a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o p e r f o r m v o c a l m u s i c i n a n e n s e m b l e s e t t i n g. S t u d e n t s w i l l d e v e l o p a n d i m p r o v e e x p r e s s i o n a n d t e c h n i c a l a s p e c t s o f s i n g i n g a n d h a v e a n o p p o r t u n i t y t o p e r f o r m s o l o a n d s m a l l e n s e m b l e s. T h e s k i l l s c h o i r s t u d e n t s l e a r n w i l l t r a n s f e r i n t o a l l o t h e r c u r r i c u l a r a c t i v i t i e s. Students will be graded on the following: - - P a r t i c i p a t i o n ( 5 0 % ) - - P e r f o r m a n c e s ( 5 0 % ) DAILY PARTICIPATION: 50% S t u d e n t s a r e e x p e c t e d t o p a r t i c i p a t e a c t i v e l y i n e a c h c h o i r r e h e a r s a l. T h i s i n v o l v e s b r i n g i n g m u s i c, p e n c i l, a n d s u p p l i e s t o e a c h c l a s s, s i n g i n g a n d t r y i n g t h e i r h a r d e s t d u r i n g r e h e a r s a l s, a n d p a y i n g a t t e n t i o n t o t h e d i r e c t o r. T h e y w i l l r e c e i v e w e e k l y p a r t i c i p a t i o n p o i n t s t h a t w i l l r e f l e c t t h e i r p a r t i c i p a t i o n g r a d e a t t h e e n d o f e a c h q u a r t e r. Participation grades tend to suffer if a student continues to make the same mistakes in a rehearsal from day to day. If we waste time because you don t learn your p a r t, w e a l l s u f f e r. LESSONS: Choir students are NOT required to attend lessons as part of their quarter grade. Signing up for lessons is optional. Choir students may sign up to attend as many o r a s f e w a s t h e y w i s h, i f t h e y n e e d h e l p w i t h a c h a l l e n g e i n t h e i r m u s i c. S t u d e n t s w h o h a v e a t t e n d e d e n o u g h o p t i o n a l l e s s o n s w i l l e a r n a r e w a r d a t t h e e n d o f t h e y e a r f o r t h e i r e x t r a w o r k. C h o i r s t u d e n t s may be instructed to sign up for a lesson if they are not showing s u f f i c i e n t p r o g r e s s i n d a i l y r e h e a r s a l s. I n t h e s e s c e n a r i o s, t h a t s t u d e n t w o u l d h a v e one week to attend a 20-minute lesson. Failure to attend a required lesson will r e s u l t i n t h a t w e e k s p a r t i c i p a t i o n g r a d e b e i n g m a r k e d a s m i s s i n g, b r i n g i n g t h e s t u d e n t s g r a d e d o w n s u b s t a n t i a l l y.

The choir will participate in two c o n c e r t s ( C h r i s t m a s a n d S p r i n g ), M a s s C h o i r L a r g e G r o u p P e r f o r m a n c e i n t h e s p r i n g ( m o r e i n f o r m a t i o n t o c o m e ). - - U n e x c u s e d a b s e n c e s w i l l s u b s t a n t i a l l y d r o p a s t u d e n t s g r a d e. E x c u s a l f r o m t h e s e p e r f o r m a n c e s i s g i v e n a t t h e d i s c r e t i o n o f t h e t e a c h e r a n d m a y i n c l u d e a d d i t i o n a l w o r k t o b e d e c i d e d b y t h e t e a c h e r. SOLO AND ENSEMBLE: D u r i n g t h e t h i r d q u a r t e r o f s c h o o l, s t u d e n t s i n c h o i r w i l l h a v e t h e o p t i o n t o l e a r n a n d w o r k o n a s o l o o r a n e n s e m b l e p i e c e. Missing a performance because of a student s job is NOT excused, because they are given plenty of time to take off. Our Choir often acts in the capacity of an ambassador from our school and our b e s t f o o t n e e d s t o b e p u t f o r w a r d a t e v e r y e v e n t w e a t t e n d.
