2 OGS MEETING Thursday, February 15 th Lunch at 11:30, talk at 12:30 pm. Please RSVP for lunch to Alison Nutter at or Midwest Hotel & Conference Center 4900 Sinclair Road Columbus, OH Gravity and Magnetic Interpretation in Eastern Ohio Primer and Application Dan Bendig, Ginger Oil Company Gravity and magnetic data is readily available in the Appalachian Basin for nearly the cost of reproduction. This data can be processed to reveal regional trends and to highlight structural features of exploration significance. A brief discussion of potential field data reduction will be presented. This will be followed by examples from eastern Ohio of gravity and magnetic interpretations. Basic conclusions are that gravity can see major features but has a limited capacity to predict detail with confidence. Magnetics are very good in mapping basement features and faulting. However, these basement features are sourced from magnetic basement and may or may not extend into the sedimentary section.
