A: River basin: When a big river gets water flow from a specific area, and falls in to sea. Many tributaries also join it. This region is called River basin. Water shed: A water shed is the area of land where all of the water that is under it or drains of it goes into the same place. 3. What is Foeticide? Is this we can see in the present society? A: Killing the child in the mother's womb ever before the birth is called foeticide. A distressing aspect of gender bias in India that show little sign of going away is the preference for boys and girls. 4. In Industrial sector employment opportunities are increased from 11% to 22%. Like that service sector employment opportunities are also increased from 15% to 25%. A: I Appreciate the rivers in countries development because Rivers provide water to humans as a basic natural resource water is essential for human and industrial activities. Rivers and their alluvial soils provide agricultural lands. River deltas are granary of the country. River valleys are densely populated and compact settlements. Rivers provide easy and cheap in land water transport. They provide drinking water to cities and towns. 8. Due to the difference in sex ratio, what would the impact on society? A: Number of females per 1000 males is called sex ratio. If sex ratio is low Gender imbalance will lead to a reduction in birth rate. Family system may collapse. Differences in the ratio of male - female creates problems in marital status. Gender bias may increase in the society. 9. A: India is divided into six major physiographic divisions. These are subjected to extensive denudation. These plateaus have been dissected by rivers and vertical movements of the earth. Himalayas are covered with snow and glaciers. These are composed of sedimentary rocks which have been folded. Q. Distinguish between Population growth and Population change? We can't see glaciers or snowfall in this region. It is generally of crystalline rocks which have seen many cycles of granite and metamorphism. A: Population growth Population change Increase in the number of people who inhabit a state. The difference between birth rate and death rate in a given year is called population growth rate. It is expressed in percentage. Change in the number of people during the specific time. Population change is the number of people added to the total population in a year. It is expressed in the addition of number Growth rate was 2.14% per year as per of people. A: Both the statements do not mean the same thing. People seek different things which can fulfil their aspirations or desires, thus different development goals. In fact at times, two persons or group of persons may seek things which are conflicting. So the developmental goals are always not conflicting so, it is wrong to say both are correct at the same time. Read the following lines and answer the question. They give rise to cyclonic depressions. 12. 'The importance of the service sector is going on increasing day by day'. Do you support this statement? Why? A: Yes, I support the statement that the importance of the service sector is going on increasing day by day. Though service sector does not produce goods. It strengthens the needs, requirements of other two sectors. The basic services like community, social personal services, finance, insurance and real estate, trade hotels, transport and communication are very essential and provide wide range of employment opportunities. It has a large share of GDP. It led to path of progress and shows the sign of modernization. Q. Should ground water be considered a common pool resource? Explain your view. A: For resources like water, the consumption by one person or a sector affects what is available to others. In a number of states, the answer to falling water tables has been not to address the issue itself. Apart from this each person wants their share of water before some one else. This is the real contemporary challenge.

9 So ground water should be considered a common pool resource. Based on this the laws and rules to water usage should be framed. It should be made that drinking water is the first priority and a human right. Panchayat institutions must have control over the use of ground water. 13.
