3 Strategic Mapping Program Responsibilities Maintain authoritative, trusted State geospatial layers based on national standards. Acquire new geospatial data Update existing geospatial data Define a common mapping standard to ensure consistent, high quality data for the State of Texas and the public. Attract partnerships to increase the purchasing power of public funds.

4 CAPCOG s GeoMap Program & TNRIS StratMap Program Comparison Both programs have very similar objectives in being able to serve the need for cooperatively purchasing (cost-sharing) high-quality geospatial data at volume price discounts for the greatest geographic coverage GeoMap AND StratMap provide: Excellent pricing due to volume purchases and cost-sharing Project coordination and technical assistance Quality control Some of the added benefits of the StratMap Program offers include: Streamlined contract and procurement process through DIR Negligible administrative fees Multiple, pre-qualified vendors and products to select from Potentially better pricing with greater statewide participation Data is placed in the public domain to follow open government doctrines And for Central Texans, the program and staff are still headquartered locally (in Austin)
