1 Appraiser Copy Constellations Challenge: Your challenge is to locate, and create 3 words out of the Constellation Paper provided, and then create a skit using that includes those three words. Time: You will have up to 5 minutes to find words, to plan and to practice your performance. Then, you will have up to 2 minutes to present your story to the appraisers. Procedure: Part One (5 Minutes): Connect stars on the constellation papers to create words. For the purposes of this challenge, a constellation is a group of stars connected by imaginary lines to form words. All words need to be on separate pieces of constellation paper. These words should then be used in your performance.after the words are created, write them on the sheets provided. At the end of part one, the appraisers will collect one copy of the word sheet, as well as all three copies of the constellation paper. Part Two (2 Minutes): Present your performance to the appraisers. Remember to use all three words in your performance. Materials: You will have three different patterns of Constellation Paper. In addition, you will have 2 copies of the Constellation Word Sheet to record your words. A piece of paper and 5 pencils will be available for your team to plan, and write on the various sheets. Scoring: You will receive: A. 15 Points if you have 3 words written on the Constellation Paper and Constellation Word Sheet at the end of part one. B. 15 Points if all 3 words are used in your performance. C. Up to 10 Points (30 points max.) for how creatively the words are used in the performance D. Up to 20 Points for the overall creativity of the performance E. Up to 20 Points for how well your team works together.
2 Appraiser Notes Teams shall receive no points for letters A., B., and C. if no words are given to the appraiser at the end of part one, but should still be allowed to proceed to part two. If more than one word is written on a sheet of Constellation Paper, only the word nearest the top of the page should be counted, or whatever word is written on the Constellation word sheet. Words do not need to be spelled right on the constellation paper A team may use an alternate definition for homophones without penalty (e.g. using the definition of the word wrapper when the word rapper is written down) Made up words should receive no points
