3 Z\ + PETER E. WALCOlT & ASSOC. LTI). INTRODUCTION. Between August 11th and 17th, 1983, Peter E. Walcott & Associates Limited carried out a small induced polarization survey over part of a property, located near Bear Lake, British Columbia for Resources Limited. The eurvey was carried out over north-south and east-west lines established and flagged by the survey crew. It was basically an extension of the 1981 survey carried out to better define the existing anomaly. Measurements (first and second separation) of apparent resis tivity and chargeability (the I.P. response parameter) were made using the Ifpole-dipole" method of surveying with a 100 metre dipole. The data are presented in profile and contour form on plan maps of the grid - Maps W to6-that accompany this report. GEOPIIYSICA I; SERVICES

The property is located in the Ornineca Mining District of British Columbia and consists of the following claim blocks: The claims are located around the 5500 foot elevation on the eastern edge of Tarn Lake, a small lake some 7 miles northwest of Bear Lake. Access was obtained by means of float plane from Smithers to Bear Lake and thence by helicopter to the property.

7 bl PETER E. WALCOTl' Rr ASSOC. LTD. SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS. The induced polarization (I.P.) survey was carried out using a pulse type system, the principal components of which are manufactured by Huntec Limited and Phoenix Geophysics Limited of Metropolitan Toronto, Ontario. The system consists basically of three units: a receiver, a transmitter and a motor generator. The transmitter which provides a maximum of 2,O kw doc. to the ground, obtains its power from a 2.0 kw 400 c.p.s. three phase alternator driven by a gasoline engine. The cycling rate of the transmitter is 2 seconds llcurrent-onll and 2 seconds ltcurrent-offll with the pulses reversing continuously in polarity. The data recorded in the field consists of careful measurement of the current (I) in amperes flowing through electrodes C and C2, the primary voltage (v) appearing between the two poten f. la1 electrodes, Pi and P2, during the Itcurrent-onu part of the cycle, and the apparent chargeability (b) presented a8 a direct readout uaing a 100 millirecond delay and a 1000 milliercond aample window. The apparent resistivity (pa) in ohm metres is proportional to the ratio of the primary voltage and the measured current, the proportionality factor depending on the geometry of the array used. The chargeability and resistivity are called apparent as they are values which that portion of the earth sampled would have if it were homogeneous. As the earth sampled is usually inhomogeneous the calculated apparent chargeability and resistivity are functions of the actual charg~bility and resistivity of the rocks. * The survey was carried out using the llpole-dipolei1 method of surveying. In this method the current electrode C1, and the two potential electrodes, P1 and P2, are moved in unison along the survey lines, The spacing "nafl(n an integer) between C1 and P1 is kept constant for each traverse at a distance roughly equal to the depth to be explored by that traverse, while that of Pi to P2 (the dipole) is kept constant at I1afl. The second current electrode C2 is kept constant at llinfinity". Thus usually on a "pole-dipole" array traverse with an electrode spacing of 200 metres a body lying at a depth of 100 metres will produce a strong response, whereas the same body lying at a depth of 200 metres will only just be detected. By running subsequent traverses at different electrode separations, more precise estimates can be made of depth, width, thickness and percentage of sulphides of causative bodies located by the I.P. method.

8 - ; Y PETER E. WALCOTI' Ar ASSOC. LTD. SURVEY 'SPECIFICATIONS cont ' d This survey was carried out using a 100 metre dipole and obtaining first and second separation readings on all the lines surveyed. In all some 6.8 kms of line were covered by the I.P. survey.

9 k w PETER E. WALCOI'T Ar ASSOC. LTD. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS, The results should be studied in conjunction with the geology and other data over the property with which the writer is unfamiliar. It should be mentioned here that when pole-dipole surveys are run at large angles to existing traverses the chargeability results are not necessarily the same due to volume sampling representation'by a point plot, asymmetry of the array, difference in current pathe, etc. However in thie caoe very good agreement wee obtained as illustrated by the contour plote - Mape W and 4. On these a readily discernible anomaly, some 500 x 300 metres in area, is outlined by the 10 millisecond contour. This anomaly is still open to the west between 1 and 4 S respectively. However it l a considerably better defined than on the 1981 survey. Similar chargeability readings were obtained over and around the showing just east of Tarn Lake. The higher chargeability values appear to be associated with resistivity values of 1000 to 2000 ohm metres, and are bounded on the north east by lower reeietivity values, and on the eouth eaot by higher resistivity values. This can best be seen by comparing the contour plots of the ns2 data - Maps W & 6. The northeast contact would appear to be a fault contact striking northwest thro' the corner of Patcha Lake, GEOEDE1[YSICAI, SERVICES

10 c. PETER E. WALCOTl' Rr ASSOC. LTD. SUMMARY. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS. Between August 11th - 17th, 1983, Peter E. Walcott & Associates Limited carried out an extension of their 1981 induced polarization survey for Resources Limited over their Bear Lake property. The survey more properly defined the zone of anomalous chargeability'readings that was trending north-south across the existing grid, and contained it to the central portion of the enlarged grid with the exception of a few higher readings on the east and west where the lines are limited by steep escarpments. Similar chargeability readings were obtained over a known showing near Tarn Lake. The results should be compared with other data collected over the property, in particular the geology, and drilling should be based on this study. Respectfully submitted, PETER E.
