Description Every five years, since 1990, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission has produced a GIS Land Use layer for its 9-county region. As it was in 2000, digital orthophotography was flown by DVRPC in Digitizing was done using these 2010 true-color aerials on the ArcGIS software platform at a 1:2400 (1 inch = 200 feet) scale. Hide Field Shape_Area FIELD LU_Label * ALIAS Shape_Leng * DATA TYPE Double * WIDTH 19 Land Use description LIST OF VALUES VALUE Residential:Single-Family Detached DESCRIPTION Single-family Detached units are identified including their lots where lot boundaries are evident. In cases where no lot boundaries are evident, their boundaries are estimated. VALUE Residential:Multi-Family DESCRIPTION Multi-Family dwellings are any multiple residential units, with the exception of Row Homes and Mobile Homes. Examples of Multi-Family units include duplexes, apartments, condominiums, quads, etc. VALUE Parking:Multi-Family DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Multi-Family areas. VALUE Residential:Row Home DESCRIPTION Row Home areas are defined as a series of connected single-family houses forming a continuous group, usually located in an urban area. Condominiums are identified as Multi-Family, not Row Home. VALUE Parking:Row Home DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Row Home areas. VALUE Residential:Mobile Home DESCRIPTION Mobile Home areas are those containing a large group of transportable single-family dwellings. VALUE Parking:Mobile Home DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Mobile Home areas. VALUE Manufacturing:Light Industrial DESCRIPTION Light Industrial uses include industrial parks and small-scale manufacturing and assembly. Light Industrial sites are often "cleaner" looking than Heavy Industrial sites, with uses that create less smoke, dust and noise. VALUE Parking:Light Manufacturing DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Light Manufacturing areas. VALUE Manufacturing:Heavy Industrial DESCRIPTION Heavy Industrial uses include oil refineries, chemical plants, steel and metal fabrication, shipbuilding, grain elevators, port terminals, manufacturing and assembly facilities (i.e. automobile production, pharmaceutical). VALUE Parking:Heavy Manufacturing DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Heavy Manufacturing areas. VALUE Transportation DESCRIPTION Transportation includes areas devoted to rail, air, marine and highway transportation. Examples include limited-access highways (highways that are at least double lane divided) and their ramps, railroad facilities (stations, roundhouses, switching yards), airports, and truck and bus terminals. Two lane roads and residential streets are not identified as Transportation. The Transportation category takes priority over any other coexisting land use that may be present (i.e. highways over rivers or utility rights-of-way). VALUE Parking:Transportation DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Transportation areas. VALUE Utility DESCRIPTION Utility includes power generation and substations, major transmission lines and towers, water filtration and storage tanks, wastewater treatment, landfills and recycling centers. Reservoirs are identified as Water, not Utility. Transmission lines take priority only over certain coexisting land uses (Agriculture, Vacant, and Wooded) if present. VALUE Parking:Utility DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Utility areas. VALUE Commercial DESCRIPTION Commercial areas are those that contain structures predominantly used for the sale of products and services. Examples include central business districts, malls, strip malls, shopping centers, hotels and motels, and warehousing and distribution centers. All landscaped areas associated with a Commercial area are also included in this category. VALUE Parking:Commercial DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Commercial areas. VALUE Community Services DESCRIPTION Community Services include structures that provide non-commercial services. Examples include educational facilities (schools, but not the recreational fields associated with them), places of worship, cemeteries, hospitals and medical centers, museums, government centers (other than military), correctional facilities, and social clubs. All landscaped areas associated with a Community Services area are also included in this category. VALUE Parking:Community Services DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Community Services areas. VALUE Military DESCRIPTION Military includes all military installations, such as bases and camps, armories, air bases, naval bases and air stations, and Coast Guard bases.
7 Page 7 of 8 VALUE Parking:Military DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Military areas. VALUE Recreation DESCRIPTION Recreation areas are those developed for recreational activities. This includes recreational parks and playgrounds (including those associated with schools), golf courses, picnic areas, camps, fairgrounds, recreational boat launches, swimming pools, theatres, stadiums and arenas, zoos, amusement parks, and non-military firing ranges. VALUE Parking:Recreation DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Recreation areas. VALUE Agriculture DESCRIPTION Agriculture includes land devoted to crops, pastures, orchards, tree farms, or other agricultural uses. Also included are nurseries, greenhouses, sod farms, horse farms, and cattle, pig, poultry and dairy farms. The farmstead and associated buildings are included as well. If large transmission lines (Utility) clearly continue through an Agricultural area, the Utility land use takes priority. VALUE Parking:Agriculture DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Agriculture areas. VALUE Agriculture:Agricultural Bog DESCRIPTION Agricultural Bog is comprised of the bogs associated with cranberry farms, located mainly in southern Burlington County. Farmland surrounding these bogs is categorized as Agriculture. VALUE Mining DESCRIPTION Mining includes any extractive use, principally quarries and sand pits. VALUE Parking:Mining DESCRIPTION Parking lots of ten or more spaces associated with Mining areas. VALUE Wooded DESCRIPTION Wooded (forested) areas are areas of continuous canopy or solid tree cover, woodlands, and natural lands. Hedgerows (windrows) and wooded areas associated with residences are not interpreted as Wooded. If large transmission lines (Utility) clearly continue through a Wooded area, the Utility land use takes priority. VALUE Vacant DESCRIPTION Vacant lands are areas that are not clearly wooded, not agricultural, not developed, not landscaped, or are cleared or unused but not tied to other uses. If large transmission lines (Utility) clearly continue through a Vacant area, the Utility land use takes priority. VALUE Water DESCRIPTION Water areas are rivers, canals, streams, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds that have two definable boundaries. Single line hydrology is not defined. When coexisting with another land use, other than Transportation, the Water land use takes priority.
