Segments each containing 1 minute of observations. Duplicate segments removed before dissemination. Initially 30 minutes, operational target 15 minutes For NN : HRPT data, expanded to 16 bits, big endian, bzip2 compressed. For Metop: EPS level 0, bzip2 compressed. None. All NOAA AVHRR data acquired by the EARS network is archived with full instrument resolution. For information, all Metop AVHRR data is received as part of the global service is archived with full instrument resolution.
Data Segmentation and Selection Svalbard Lannion Maspalomas EUMETCast User Station Timeliness 10 Minutes
EARS-ASCAT The prime objective of the Advanced Scatterometer (ASCAT) instrument is to measure wind speed and direction over the oceans. Active Instrument, C-Band. ASCAT Viewing Geometry All three views required for generation of products Favours central processing for combination of data from different station
EARS-ASCAT Service Specification EARS-ASCAT Satellites Geographical Coverage Metop Core European coverage Further Atlantic Ocean coverage to be targeted Product Processing Level 1 by EUMETSAT based on EPS Core Ground Segment processing s/w Level 2 by KNMI using the operational OSI SAF processing s/w Product Segmentation Segments containing variable length of data. Products via EUMETCast Ku-Band Europe Products via RMDCN/GTS Level 2 Ocean Winds, as per the OSI SAF ASCAT service, BUFR format Two products with 25 km and 12.5 km spaced grids respectively. As for EUMETCast
EARS-IASI The AAPP OPS-LRS shares the processing core with the processor used at EUMETSAT for the global IASI data. Comparisons between regional and global IASI calibrated observations show a maximum deviation of around 0.1 K brightness temperature at 280K reference temperature, with the majority of observations being consistent to within 0.05 K. Principal Component scores, representing the 8461 IASI channels by 90 scores for IASI Band 1, 120 scores for IASI Band 2 and 90 scores for IASI Band 3. Consistency between the Principal Component score scheme used for EARS-IASI and for the global IASI data will be ensured, including the provision of a reference IASI Eigenvector File, required during compression and de-compression, common to EARS-IASI and the global IASI products. The IASI Eigenvector File will be made available to Users.
