8 Characteristic of a Rare Moving Left Supercell Storm YE GengxinLIU ZhuanghuaLIU Guoyu Tonghua Meteorological Bureau of Jilin ProvinceTonghua China Abstract A study of a left moving supercell storm which occurred in the southern part of Jilin Province on July was made based on the Baishan Doppler weather radar data routine upper air observationand intensive automatic weather station observation. The results show that this weather process occurred in the deep northeast cold vortex southeast quadrant and near the north side of the super strong high - altitude jet cores low - level vertical wind shear was not strong and convective available potential energy was not large then. There was a strong warm advection in low level and a wind shear area from southwest to northeast. Low - level convergenceupper - level divergencenear the dew point front and upper - level jet cores were all conducive to convective development. There was always a meso - β - scale about 120 km anti - cyclonic circulation when the storm developedits rotating radius increased gradually from upper to low level and it was stretched into an oval structure in SSE directionand the storm occurred in the SSW airflow in the northwest quadrant of the circulationand showed a hook echoweak echo regionanti meso cyclone and other characteristics of supercell. Anti - meso - cyclone appeared in the strong developing period of the stormand its gyration radius gradually increased from low to high layer. Hail occurred in front of the strongest inflow and strongest period of the stormand strong cooling and instantaneous gale disasters weather happened when the storm passed by. Key words northeast cold vortex supercell hook echo left moving storm anti meso cyclones upper jet 檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮檮 ( 上接第 430 页 ) Cause Analysis of an Extremely Heavy Rainstorm in Jiaxian County in the North Shaanxi Province on July LIU Yong GUO Damei HU Qiyuan Shaanxi Meteorology ObservatoryXi an China Abstract Based on the routine observation datahourly rainfall dataphysical quantity fields and satellite images as well as NCEP reanalysis dataan extremely heavy rainstorm in Jiaxian County in the north Shaanxi Province on July was analyzed. The conclusions are as follows In the early stage of rainstorm the subtropical high was strongerwhen the cold air from westerly zone encountered the southwest warm and moist air from the northwest of subtropical highconvection was triggered. The southwest airflow on 700 hpa and the southeast airflow on 850 hpa provided a relatively abundant water vapor for the rainstorm. There were lots of unstable energy in the lower leveland on the level of 200 hpa the north of Shaanxi Province was located in the front of the shallow trough and the right side of the jet stream s entrancewhere positive vorticity advection and strong divergence existedwhich resulted in a strong vertical movement. On the satellite cloud images there was a meso - α - scale convective cloud clusterwhose horizontal scale was from 200 to 400 kmand the lowest brightness temperature was - 60 and sustained time was 14 hours.
