1 Vocabulary Folder From Catherine Redmayne Speech and language Therapist It is a very good idea to keep a folder for any child who has a problem with language and vocabulary. These pages provide you with a range of vocabulary sheets to start you off. These are just a few of the sort of topics that children cover in Yr R - Yr4. You can easily make extra pages to suit yourself. Choose pages that link into the topics being covered in school. Keep your pages in a pocket display book which will hold 40 sheets. You can then revise earlier topics so information doesn't vanish! 28 pages of vocabulary ideas and resources for use with children with language and vocabulary difficulties.

12 The forces that make music. We can blow (also on grass or comb&tissue); we can use strings (try rubber bands on two nails); we can hit (try tapping milk bottles with water); we can shake (try gravel or dried peas in a tin). Can the children accompany recorded music in time?!

13 Forces and music Wind makes many musical instruments work. Here are some. You can try and make a noise by blowing grass, or through tissue on a comb. Plucking is like pulling. Some instruments with strings need plucking or pulling. You can put rubber bands round an open box and pluck them too. Try fat and thin bands. Hitting is a bit like a quick hard push. Some instruments have to be hit. You can tap on empty tins, bits of metal pipe, or bottles with some water in, with a stick.

19 I know what things are made out of. The special word for all these sorts of stuff is materials. wood metal glass cloth or wool paper Test me on what material things are made from. To make it more complex, give me two features to think about e.g. Find something that's made of paper and you blow your nose on it.
