Resolvable Questions? 1. Does radiation of interplanetary origin arrive directly at Van Allen Probes orbit? a. Compositional signatures? (p/α, O/α) b. Spectral signatures (γ,e 0 ) c. Evidence of inward transport? d. Evidence of latitudinal transport? e. Temporal relationships
An early result that could be revisited Krimigis, et al, reported from INJUN IV observations of trapped radiation that the abundance of helium relative to protons (.01) at about 0.5 MeV/Nuc. was much lower than solar wind suggesting an ionospheric source. How much material at what energies derives from interplanetary source(s)? For an ionospheric source, exactly how and where is the trapped radiation energized?

Approaches to correlative studies Develop, tabulate and distribute key parameters Distinguish between epochs of northward and southward IMF. Attempt to characterize causal connections from L1 to RBSPICE by studies of cross correlations vs time delay
Need major assistance from MIDL experts!! How do I extract or create a simple flat file of time ordered binned rates for protons, helium, and oxygen merged with spacecraft coordinates and pitch angles for RBSPICE A & B? Given links to existing ACE EPAM csv flat files of rates (fluxes can easily be obtained from spreadsheet arithmetic) what is the easiest way to compare with RBSPICE?

Editorial comment-- While I understand and am impressed with the huge amount of detail yielded by RBSPICE observations and the images that can be derived therefrom, inferences made from images (in my humble opinion) ultimately need to be supported by quantitative in addition to visual similarities.
