1 Piedmont Technical College Course Information Sheet Course Title: Elementary Algebra Course Prefix/Number: MAT 152 COURSE-SPECIFIC GRADE CALCULATION Advanced notification of any changes will be provided to the student. The following grade designation will be used: A = ; B = 85 93; C = 75 84; D = 70 74; F = 69 and below; W = Withdrew Grades below C (75%) are not accepted for the next mathematics course or for entrance into major/programs. The student will need to retake the course. Emporium: o 30% of the grade comes from lessons (These are found in Hawkes and include the learn, practice, and certify activities. A score of 80% or higher is considered mastery and will be awarded 100%) o 10% of the grade comes from daily starters (These are onequestion pass/fail found under D2L quizzes and are only accessable the first 10 minutes of class.) o 60% of the grade comes from module finals (Found in Hawkes, these must be completed in the classroom. Your instructor will type in the password.) PEN/Online: o 10% of the grade comes from discussions. 2 approved non-ptc site. The center staff will type in the password.) EXPLANATION OF SPECIFIC PROCTORED EXAM INFORMATION Online/PEN: o There are three proctored exams (Modules 7, 8, and 12). They are in Hawkes. These exams must be taken at one of the seven PTC campuses or at an approved test site. For more information, please see the Testing Center s Webpage. o You will be able to bring a scientific or graphing calculator (cell phone calculators are not permitted) and a 4 in. by 6 in. index card with any relevant notes pertaining to the material (front and back) for these examinations. Emporium: o There is no midterm or cumulative final exam for this course. o With prior approval, the finals may be completed outside the classroom with instructor supervision. Contact your individual instructor for prior approval.
