This paper describes how these variables interact when considered in light of a more realistic probabilistic range for each variable. MacKay, J. This paper provides a method to estimate that value, taking into account uncertainty in all the input variables, as well as the corporate risk attitude.

4 講師略歴 Steven M. McIntyre CAREER SUMMARY My major strength is in the area of risk management. I have experience: developing, implementing and managing risk management methodology at a company wide, business unit and team level; designing and implementing the portfolio management process, particularly the exploration component enrolling and training management, geologists, geophysicists and engineers in these processes; applying these practices at a supervisory level, directing the efforts of geologists, geophysicists and engineers; and applying these practices as an exploration and development geologist. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY 2003 to present: Rose & Associates. Provided risk assessment training and consulting services worldwide. Clients included Shell, Encana, Saudi Aramco, PDO, Unocal, PTTEP, Petronas, Occidental, KMG, OMV, CNOOC and Santos to 2003: Santos Ltd-Adelaide and Brisbane. Exploration and Development Team Leader for acreage onshore Australia. Active exploration and development program in a mature hydrocarbon province. Planning Team Leader for onshore Australia. Responsible for coordination of short term forecasting and long term planning process. Key involvement in preparation of Joint Venture and Corporate Budgets. With the appointment of a new Managing Director a series of major reviews were carried out in order to determine the status of the company and define its future strategy. Participated in reviews of all company assets focussing on exploration potential. With the Corporate Review and Audit Team delivered material improvements to the evaluation process for exploration and development opportunities. Previously the process lacked technical rigour, was reactive and adversarial. The process is now more rigorous, more proactive and less adversarial. Member of four person team charged with the responsibility of scoping, implementing and managing the portfolio management initiative. Worked closely with John Howell of PDI. Responsible for coordination of Exploration Function input to ongoing Portfolio Management

5 process to 1996: Ampolex Ltd. Sydney For the first two years was responsible for evaluation of new venture opportunities in Australia. Involved review of 21 basins and evaluation of in excess of 50 farm in and gazettal opportunities. Developed a probabilistic approach to play evaluation to rank basins. During this period the company was evolving from a non operator holding minor interests in a moderate number of Joint Ventures, predominantly in Australasia, to an operator with moderate to major interests in a large number of joint ventures, a high proportion of which were outside of Australasia. Lack of an effective risk assessment and decision making process contributed to a lack of focus and to over estimation of exploration potential. Convinced management of the need to improve in this area. Designed and implemented a risk management methodology and software. Developed a training program involving a balance of internal and external resources to enrol professionals and managers from the Sydney, Perth, Denver and Buenos Aires offices. Process ensured that the most promising prospects and plays were pursued and that decisions on acreage acquisition and relinquishment could be made with confidence. Experience evaluating prospects from Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Tunisia, United States, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Argentina to 1992: Santos Ltd. - Adelaide Positions ranging from geologist to Team Leader working exploration and development assets in the Otway, Carnarvon, Browse, Bonaparte, Cooper and Eromanga Basins. Member of New Venture team. Developed model for the origin and migration of oil reservoired within the Eromanga Basin leading to a major extension of a proven play. Also brought an end to an extended period of unsuccessful drilling beyond extent of Permian charged Eromanga basin oil play. Co-author of a paper which included a summary of this work and which won the best paper award at the 1989 Cooper/Eromanga Basin Conference. Responsible for standardisation of exploration procedures across the various exploration groups following company reorganisation. Major emphasis on evaluation of risk management procedures and exploration performance. Carried out a review of past exploration performance. The results of this review strongly supported probabilistic risk management. Adoption of such procedures was recommended and accepted to 1982: Esso Australia - Sydney.
