I have mentored and instructed more than 100 students in this class and served as head teaching assistant for 2 years. Total 5 weeks as primary course lecturer. Mineral Deposits- An introduction to ore deposits geology for mining engineers. Focused primary on mineral identification and basic geologic principles.

2 Resource Geology- General education course focused on cradle to grave analysis of common energy resources, culminating in a professional style poster presentation. University of Massachusetts- Graduate Teaching Assistant Structural Geology- Emphasis on cross-section construction and interpretation of map patterns; stress and strain analysis; rock descriptions. Field trip through western Vermont and Massachusetts. Basic Field Methods- Introduction to sample collection, map and compass techniques, note taking; basic mapping exercises. Advanced Field Methods- Geologic mapping exercises in the Deerfield Basin and Eastern New York. Emphasis on map construction and interpretation in the field. Rio Grande Rift Summer Field Trip- Served as a teaching assistant for a Five College field trip to northern New Mexico. I mentored a group of undergraduates who specifically studied the Precambrian geology of the area. Oceanography- General education class on the biology, chemistry and tectonics of oceans. University of Maine- Maine Learning Assistant Engineering Physics II- Assistant instructor during recitations. Topics included optics, electricity and magnetism. Teaching was coupled with discussion-based instruction on pedagogical techniques. RESEARCH, FIELD AND WORK EXPERIENCE Virginia Tech Northern Scotland- Focused on the interactions between thrust faulting and metamorphism in the Scandian orogenic wedge. Using geochronology and metamorphic petrology to examine how thrust nappes transport heat. My data helps delineate a detailed thermal evolution of norther Scotland, which will be used in future numerical modeling. Field visits in summers of 2014 and Funded by GSA and NSF. Central Coastal Maine- Constraining the metamorphic evolution of the Liberty-Orrington Belt. Evidence for a previously unrecognized phase of higher pressure metamorphism during Acadian orogenesis. Field visits in summers of 2015 and Funded by Sigma Xi and Lowry Scholarship. Shear Heating- A numerical modeling study of how heat from deformation can affect the metamorphic evolution of an area. Using a temperature dependent rheology to model shear heating across a wide range of deformation parameters. Freeport-McMoran: Climax-Molybdenum Company, Henderson Mine, Colorado Summer Internship- Underground mapping of ore bodies and structural data collection; surface geotechnical mapping; large emphasis on safety and environmental protection.

3 University of Massachusetts Four Peaks area, Arizona- Determined timing of multiple deformation, plutonic and sedimentation events. The Four Peaks area was thought a classic example of the 1.65 billion year old Mazatzal orogeny that formed much of the continental North America. My work showed that many of the features of this area can be attributed to the younger Picuris orogeny. Extended field work and mapping in summer 2013 and spring Funded by GSA and Leo Hall Scholarship. Northern New Mexico- Sample and data collection in the Tusas Mountains, also related to the Precambrian tectonics of North America. University of Maine Keck Consortium REU, Ontario Canada- Senior thesis work; studied meter scale strain localization and deformation mechanisms in the Grenville Province. Extensive use of electron backscatter diffraction to characterize crystallographic preferred orientations. Antarctica- Glacial geology undergraduate research experience. 5 weeks of remote field work in the Dry Valleys region of Antarctica. Collected samples for carbon dating and reconstruction of the paleo-extent of the Ross Ice Sheet.
