6 op Private ifts Bluegrass ommunity and echnical ollege $1,000,000 gift of $1,000,000 was made by the exington-ayette rban ounty overnment to Bluegrass ommunity and echnical ollege. unds will support the ollege s Buildmart initiative and will be used for the ewtown ampus xpansion for an nterdisciplinary cience enter. he addition to the ewtown ampus will allow the ollege to expand programs in two important career areas, science and health. West Kentucky ommunity and echnical ollege $612,014 transfer of funds in the amount of $612,014 was made by the Paducah Bank to PJ, nc. (the recognized foundation for West Kentucky ommunity and echnical ollege). he funds are designated for the Jack Paxton emorial cholarship. cholarships are awarded with preference given to freshman students with financial need who have a minimum 2.5 P and who are graduates of a public or private high school in the following Kentucky counties: Ballard, aldwell, alloway, arlisle, rittenden, ulton, raves, ickman, ivingston, yon, arshall, cracken, and rigg. ecipients of the scholarship may also be K ngineering students on the WK campus. 4

7 enderson ommunity ollege $250,000 gift of $250,000 was made by the Preston amily oundation to enderson ommunity ollege. unds will support the ollege s Buildmart initiative and will be used toward the renovation of several areas of the campus. aysville ommunity and echnical ollege $200,000 gift of $200,000 was made by the icking Valley ollege evelopment orporation (the foundation for aysville ommunity and echnical ollege). he gift will support the ollege s Buildmart initiative. unds will be used to construct the new aysville ommunity and echnical ollege and orehead tate niversity Postsecondary enter of xcellence (owan ampus of aysville ommunity and echnical ollege). Jefferson ommunity and echnical ollege $177,704 gift of $177,704 was made by the ow orning oundation to Jefferson ommunity and echnical ollege oundation for their Buildmart initiative for the new campus at arrollton. he funds will be used to establish an applied technology lab to help ensure students have the tools and equipment needed to help them prepare for successful careers. 5

11 Bluegrass ommunity and echnical ollege $542,620 Bluegrass ommunity and echnical ollege received $542,620 from the Kentucky epartment of ducation s Kentucky igrant ducation Program. unds support the orthern igrant ducation Program enter, which is responsible for accountability and quality control of migrant education programs across the newly created orthern egion. ervices include guidance and professional development for regional and ocal ducation gency () staff; academic enrichment programs, direct services, and college outreach opportunities for migrant students; and evaluation of the effectiveness of programs across the region. omerset ommunity ollege $377,089 omerset ommunity ollege received $377,089 through the.. epartment of ducation s itle trengthening nstitutions Program to support its enter for dvising, etention, and ngagement (...). his one-stop advising center provides comprehensive support for entering and first-year students who are undecided about a program of study, academically underprepared for college work, and otherwise at risk of failing to persist. he program is in year four of a five-year, $1.5 million grant. adisonville ommunity ollege $347,923 adisonville ommunity ollege was awarded $347,923 through the.. epartment of ducation s alent earch Program to carry out workshops, small group and individual sessions, campus tours, and summer academic enrichment activities during the school year and the summer months. he goal of the program, which serves more than 750 students across three school systems, is to prepare middle and high school students for college enrollment and graduation. 9
