2 FACS Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) is a federation of 28 national chemical societies from countries in the Asia Pacific region 1978: : UNESCO proposes the creation of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies to Countries in the Asian Region FACS was inaugurated on August 16, 1979 in Bangkok with Prof Kamchorn Manuapichu of Thailand as the First President. 11 Founding Members from Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka & Thailand
3 FACS Main Objective of FACS The main objective of the Federation is to promote the advancement of chemistry and the interest of professional chemists in the Asia Pacific region Main Mission of FACS The main mission of the Federation is to advance Asian chemistry to be at the same level as that of the developed world
