New cutting-edge equipment is gathered in one place to serve CE PoliMaT brings together the heretofore dispersed capacity of leading Slovenian research groups from the public R&D sphere with developmentally successful Slovenian businesses in one place. We ensure scientific excellence and technological breakthroughs for industrial partners through interdisciplinary research in up-andcoming fields of development in polymer materials and technology. We develop innovative, successful products for the market that contribute to sustainable development and a low-carbon society. The activities of CE PoliMaT are directed towards the realization of our vision: to become an internationally renowned center of excellence that ensures the transformation of knowledge into products and services in high-tech market niches by bringing together high-level science and industry along with an openness to newness and innovation. the needs of synthesis, production, as well as the characterization and analysis, of polymeric materials and their components. 4 R&D Equipment Reaction Calorimeter 1 (RC1) Reaction Calorimeter 1 (RC1) is a sophisticated, composite instrument-reactor in which synthesis, largely synthesis of polymers or nanoparticles, can be carried out. The system with calorimeter is equiped with additional probes: the IR (infrared) probe can track the activity in the reactor via IR spectroscopy, while with a focused beam reflectance measurement (FBRM) probe we can, for example, track the size, growth and melting of particles during the process of crystallization. The instrument allows controlled dosing, equilibration of pressure, and definition of thermodynamic changes (heating/cooling). It is suitable for the transfer of processes from the laboratory scale to the industrial laboratory scale, which can fulfill the requirements for larger quantities of samples for quasi-industrial experiments on new materials. The key advantage of RC is that it can shorten the entire development process from the formulation and technological process to regular production. UltrafleXtreme MALDI-TOF-TOF Mass spectroscopy (MS) is an indispensible technique for characterizing complex polymeric materials due to the development of the so-called soft ionization technique. With such MS instruments we can quickly and accurately determine the chemical composition, functionality, types of end-groups, microstructures (sequences) and the absolute molar mass to within 105 Da. We can also determine the presence of impurities and other side products that arise from the synthesis of polymers (cyclic structures, etc.). In cases where the polymer is previously fractionated using liquid chromatographic techniques (SEC, HPLC), we can determine the distribution of various characteristics of polymers, such as the distribution of molar mass and the distribution of functionalities or components.

5 Thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) and differential dynamic calorimeter (DSC) In the field of material analysis, we are equiped to conduct thermal analysis by tracking the heat changes and reaction using a differential dynamic calorimeter (DSC), as well as the changes in mass or degradation of materials using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). The TGA is also equipped with a mass selective detector, which allows the determination of volatile components released from the material during heating. HPLC/SEC Liquid Chromatograph The liquid chromatograph HPLC/SEC is used in analysis for the separation and determination of individual components of polymer materials, as well as for determining the molar mass of polymers and their distribution.
