1 OPPORTUNITY PONDS A CELLS (PCMA_008) For the purposes of Long Term Monitoring, a small number of Post Compliance Monitoring Areas (PCMAs) were created in These PCMAs are comprised of a number of smaller Vegetation Monitoring (VM) areas where compliance standards have been met and agreed to by the EPA. Annual monitoring of these VM areas will continue in the following format. This PCMA area includes the A Cells portion of the surface cells of the Opportunity Ponds. The area includes the old A Cell Areas A1 Cells (VM_067), A2 Cells (VM_068), A3 Cells (VM_069), A4 Cells (VM_070), A5 Cells (VM_072), A6 Cells (VM_071), A7 Cells (VM_073), and A8 Cell (VM_074). All of these VM areas were sampled for compliance for two years (2009, 2010). Performance standards were met in both years. These VM areas were combined into one Post Compliance Monitoring Area (PCMA_008) in 2014 and these areas will be monitored as PCMA_008 into the future.

6 Annual Monitoring and Maintenance COMMENTS for Opportunity Ponds A Cells (PCMA_008) YEAR VEGETATION COMMENTS This area comprises the A Cells portion of the surface cells of the Opportunity Ponds. These VM areas were combined into one Post Compliance Monitoring Area (PCMA_008) in In 2014, performance standards are still being met. Compliance Status: LTIM. Good vegetation development throughout most of this area. The area was fertilized in There are a few small bare spots that should be checked: in Cell 6.2 in the vicinity of N W , in Cell 7.1 at N ; W and N ; W and in the southeast corner of the A8 cell. The portion of the A8 cell that was treated with 60T per acre of lime is still sparsely vegetated in 2014, but the density and cover of perennial grasses and alfalfa is increasing. Small amounts of pocket gopher activity throughout most of the cells in this area. The willows were sprayed; most have died. There are a few with living sprouts at the base. There is some spotted knapweed on the road between the A1.1 and A1.2 cells that should be sprayed in the next few years. This area comprises the A Cells portion of the surface cells of the Opportunity Ponds. These VM areas were combined into one Post Compliance Monitoring Area (PCMA_008) in In 2015, performance standards are still being met. The portion of the A8 cell that was treated with 60T per acre of lime is still sparsely vegetated in 2015, but the density and cover of perennial grasses and alfalfa is increasing. Small amounts of pocket gopher activity throughout most of the cells in this area. The willows have been sprayed throughout this area and are mostly dead. There are a few with living sprouts at the base. There is some spotted knapweed on the road between the A1.1 and A1.2 cells that should be sprayed in the next few years. The area was fertilized in There are a few small bare spots that should be checked: in Cell 6.2 in the vicinity of N W , in Cell 7.1 at N ; W and N ; W and in the southeast corner of the A8 cell. The portion of the A8 cell that was treated with 60T per acre of lime is still sparsely vegetated in 2016, but the density and cover of perennial grasses and alfalfa are increasing. Small amounts of pocket gopher activity throughout most of the cells in this area. The willows have been sprayed in the past. There are still a few some living sprouts. Most of the spotted knapweed has been sprayed. The cells look good overall; most of the spotted knapweed occurs along the old roads, but the cells should be carefully checked in the next few years. Some of the roads were sprayed for control of spotted knapweed after the evaluation date in Evaluate weed status in This area comprises the A Cells portion of the surface cells of the Opportunity Ponds. These VM areas were combined into one Post Compliance Monitoring Area (PCMA_008) in In 2017, performance standards are still being met. Compliance Status: LTIM. The area was fertilized in There are a few small bare spots that should be checked: in Cell 6.2 in the vicinity of N W , in Cell 7.1 at N ; W and N ; W and in the southeast corner of the A8 cell. The portion of the A8 cell that was treated with 60T per acre of lime is still sparsely vegetated in 2017, but the density and cover of perennial grasses and alfalfa are slowly increasing. There is some minor pocket gopher activity throughout most of this area. The willows have been sprayed in the past. There are still a few some living sprouts. Weed control efforts in the past have been successful. Weed control was conducted along the roads in There is tall whitetop on both sides of the road between cells A1.1 and A1.2 that will need control in the next few years. There is still some spotted knapweed at the end of the A1.2 cell that will need additional control. EROSION COMMENTS No obvious signs of erosion. BLM score is essentially 0.
