5 Vol. 25 No. 127 First report of extended spectrumlactamase producing almonella enterica serovar Heidelberg isolates in Japan Masahiro UENO Department of Pediatrics, Hasuda sshinkai Hospital almonella enterica serovar Heidelberg is among the most frequently isolated serovars both in clinical cases of salmonellosis and from retail meats and food animals in North America. Meanwhile, over recent years in Japan,. Heidelberg has been isolated in only several cases per year. n addition, there have been no clinical reports so far of extended spectrumlactamase EBLproducing. Heidelberg isolates in Japan. This clinical case report presents a pediatric patient with acute gastroenteritis caused by CTX M 2 EBL producing. Heidelberg for the first time in Japan. ince the almonella species is generally of high pathogenicity, courses of treatment in some instances need to consider possible resistance of this strain to multiple antimicrobial agents. More attention should be paid to the selection of antimicrobial agents for treatment and to progress additional resistance for antimicrobial agents among almonella species
