5 Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS)

6 Automatic stations AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System) for airport applications are arranged for the processing of data and their transmission every 10 'or 20', in order to continuously monitor the status of the atmospheric conditions. Depending on the category of the airport, there are six different types of AWOS station. The basic version includes the following measurements: wind speed and direction (ultrasonic sensor), gusts, turbulence, temperature, humidity, dew point, barometric pressure, precipitation. It is possible to add more sensors to get to the highest category that includes visibility, type of precipitation, sky conditions and cloud cover.

7 NESA as standard provides weather stations up to the classification "AWOS III-P" as shown below AWOS I: Wind speed, wind gust, wind direction, variable wind direction, temperature, dew point, altimeter setting, density altitude. AWOS II:AWOS I + visibility, and variable visibility. AWOS III: AWOS II + sky condition, and cloud height and type. AWOS III-P: AWOS III + present weather, and precipitation identification. The list of AWOS is completed by AWOS III-T: AWOS III + thunderstorm and lightning detection. AWOS III-P-T: AWOS III + present weather, and lightning detection.

8 Among the many strengths of the AWOS stations produced and installed by Nesa is the MTBF of the sensors and data acquisition system (TMF500 datalogger), all the equipment is in fact guaranteed by between 20,000 and 30,000 hours of MTBF, and therefore Nesa products are positioned as a product peak in the world market in terms of long-term reliability. 9 NESA AWOS production includes all the necessary sensors, the datalogger TMF500, the power system solar panel 40W (TMF-ALPS)and pole support in anodized aluminum corrosion h = 10m folding hinge with the base and centerline to 5m, or fixed triangular section lattice with two colors powder-coating white/red and airborne warning lights. On request NESA AWOS are available with 220/110Vac main primary supply and/or with heated sensors. All sensor are suitable for the harshest conditions and allow the acquisition of meteorological parameters in areas characterized by extreme climate.

13 AWOS standard sensors The range of our sensors is growing from year to year, constantly responding to the very different needs and allowing us to address a wide range of applications. Our expertise has led us to be among the first Italian companies to provide certified instruments as First Class anemometer for wind applications which have passed the most stringent MeasNet tests in major European laboratories in Europe and the whole range with Modbus output, suitable to all industrial acquisition systems. 14 TMF500 datalogger is provided with applications for decoding and display the data collected from stations in standard formats as SYNOP / METAR / SPECI, in particular-fm12 SYNOP, METAR and SPECI-FM15-FM16 Other formats are also available on request ( CLIMAT, TAF, etc.) TMF500 is fully compliant with ICAO, FAA, WMO and FMH-1 approved algorithms. 15 Software Nesa has wanted to leave earlier each type of closed software and/or owner, that it needed specific installation, or related to the hardware of the machines, choosing the web platform as interface for all applications. Our applications are composed of simple and straightforward web pages that run as a site, providing user friendly interface which the user is accustomed today. Among our applications: TMF: web interface configuration and representation of our TMF data logger series; Esporta WEB: Simple web interface for free download, backup and conversion in EXCEL format of data collected from our dataloggers DB Configurator: Web interface for configuration of the transit data and their storage in FTP areas, folders, MySQL or SQL Server databases, websites Sunflower: Web application of the most comprehensive management and evaluation of data from datalogger networks and /or systems acquisition Iris: Web application for data managing data in numerical and graphical of a single station

16 Data display Nesa has always tried to create a simplified system to collect and manage data in telemetry. The basic principle is that the end user need continuous access to their data anywhere, instantly and securely. We then introduced into the market a new way to present the data, a way that was of immediate learning, very easy to use, made with current technology and, above all, that would not require any specific software, forcing the user to operate always and only from the machines ready to do so. Nesa today represents a point of reference, a historical note in the context of professional environmental monitoring. Our systems provide primarily a data transmission via FTP (File Transfer Protocol), in real time, to an internet area where in addition to being well preserved (no danger of data loss), can be easily stored and displayed on Internet platform that is to say with any commercial browser (Explorer, Firefox, Opera etc.). Iris, TMF, Sunflower are just some of the web applications created for this purpose. Such as home banking has been an evolution for the management of bank accounts, so Nesa has tried to bring the same change in the world of environmental monitoring.
