1 MetConsole AWOS (Automated Weather Observation System) Meets your aviation weather needs with inherent flexibility, proven reliability Make the most of your energy SM
2 Automated Weather Observation System Schneider Electric s MetConsole Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) a module of the company s MetConsole Aviation Weather Suite automates the weather observation functions vital to safe and efficient airport operations. Further, it features the flexibility inherent in Schneider Electric systems, so it gives Meteorological Services, airports and ATC authorities the realtime information they need for their daily operations. This smart information allows staff to focus on traffic control and minimize the flight delays and runway accidents attributed to adverse weather. Focus on traffic control and minimize weather flight delays and runway accidents Comprehensive, networked system Safety first. The automated Schneider Electric MetConsole AWOS collects data and performs quality checks with dual redundancy, to optimize not only data availability but also the reliability and consistency of that data Meteorological sensors and automatic weather stations (AWS) automatically update current temperature, visibility (RVR), clouds height, wind direction and speed, dew point, barometric pressure and other parameters. Servers receive, validate, disseminate and store sensors data. Windows -based user systems with graphic displays, report generation tools and status and maintenance monitoring make information readily available to the airport meteorological office, ATC and airport operations staffs. Network advantages. Its client/server architecture enables network implementation, so you can Obtain data from your back up airport, if needed, as easily as if the information was sourced onsite Automatically receive reports from a national met office during unmanned hours, on a defined basis or as required by special meteorological conditions Work simultaneously with a remote forecaster or observer to create periodic METAR reports Take advantage of centralized, nationwide technical maintenance of sensors and server and client monitoring, for proper operation and software upgrade and configuration AWOS automates the weather observation functions vital to safe and efficient airport operations. 02 Automated Weather Observation System
3 Automated Weather Observation System Targets your functionality needs Flexible. The open and modular architecture of the Schneider Electric MetConsole AWOS allows you to deploy only the necessary combination of functions from the simplest AWOS up to a nation-wide network of CAT III AWOS with contingency and training systems. Optimize data availability and data reliability and consistency Configurable. MetConsole graphical editor and configuration tools allow configuration to meet the specific requirements needed to protect your airport. Interoperable. The system meets stringent aeronautical weather observing requirements and complies with all relevant international standards such as ICAO Annex and Doc, WMO Guides, ARINC, EUROCAE,ESARR, ISO, EN and CE assuring efficient interface with other ATM systems. Scalable. Standardized design is hardware agnostic and sensor independent, so you can maintain existing sensors and/or AWS and add them as requirements grow. Specific message generation. The system can be configured to automatically generate and deliver METARs, including trend forecasts, or other messages and bulletins needed. Efficient maintenance. A technician/maintenance tool provides a range of functions for technicians and system administrators. Your Schneider Electric AWOS works for you Ease of use minimizes errors. The intuitive Schneider Electric AWOS user interface optimizes utility of the system and can be customized for specific needs. Simulation and training tools improve operations. The Schneider Electric AWOS includes unique simulation and training tools that can create user-specified scenarios and apply real-time data for highly effective training. Extensibility maximizes your investment. Modular and standardized design and TCP/IP networking assures you the best return on your observation system investment. Rely on Schneider Electric expertise Schneider Electric has delivered aviation weather solutions with MetConsole core technology for more than 30 years, with more than 250 references worldwide. Many of these installations have the AWOS interchanging information with other Schneider Electric MetConsole Aviation Weather Suite components the MetConsole ATIS/ VOLMET and LLWAS modules or third-party systems, so the user realizes a complete aviation meteorological solution.
