1 (Littles) Lesson Plans (Advanced and Regular Physical Science) UNIT: Motion Speed, Velocity and Acceleration (10 Days) Newton s Laws of Motion (10 days) Date Range: 11/3/14-11/7/14 Topic, Assignments, Agenda, Board Configurations Standard/ Homeroom: Announcements UNIT: Speed and Newton s Laws 1. How can the motion of objects be measured and described verbally, graphically, and mathematically? 2. How does an unbalanced force affect the speed and/or motion of an object? 3. How can one differentiate between speed, velocity, and acceleration? 4. How would you interpret a distance/time graph? 5. How did Newton change our view of the universe? 6. How can you prove that Newton s Laws of Motion? 7. What would our world be like without force? SC.6.P.13.3#: Investigate and describe that an unbalanced force acting on an object changes its speed, or direction of motion, or both. SC.6.P.12.1#: Measure and graph distance versus time for an object moving at a constant speed. Interpret this relationship. #: Investigate and describe types of forces including contact forces and forces acting at a distance, such as electrical, magnetic, and gravitational. 1. Students will be able to describe how the speed, velocity, or acceleration of an object changes due to an unbalanced force. 2. Students will be able to apply Newton s Laws of Motion in various situations. Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. Describe and calculate the speed and velocity of an object. 2. Describe the acceleration of an object. 3. Distinguish between speed, velocity and acceleration

2 4. Read and interpret motion graphs. 5. Describe how different forces affect objects The factors that can affect a gravitational force of an object. Monday 11/3/14 Speed 8 How can the motion of objects be measured and described verbally, graphically, and mathematically? How would you interpret a distance/time graph? Modifications, Differentiation, Reading, Writing, or Math support, RTI, Notes, etc. Students will be able to describe how the speed, velocity, or acceleration of an object changes due to an unbalanced force. Describe and calculate the speed and velocity of an object. Read and interpret motion graphs. Can you distinguish between speed and velocity? How are distance and time used to express speed? Describe what would happen if there was no measure of time. How is speed incorporated in velocity? Bell Ringer: Prep for Bingo Review I do: Explain Test Procedures We do: Bingo Review Game (Speed and Velocity) You do: Speed and Velocity Test, Complete Constant Velocity Lab or One-Pager on Speed/Velocity

3 Tuesday 11/4/14 Laws 1 Exit question: None, Constant Velocity Lab Evaluation: Learning Scale SC.6.P.13.3 What would our world be like without force?
