6 th Grade Earth-Space Science (Lesson Plans Subject to Change Based on Rate of Learning) Week of October 6-10, th Grade Science Topic, Assignments, Agenda, Board Configurations Homeroom: Skill or Standard Differentiation, Reading, Writing, or Math Support, Notes, etc. Monday 10-6 Bell Ringer: None computer lab Learning Goal: Students will identify and differentiate among Earth s spheres, describe the layers of solid Earth and know the changes in within and between Earth's layers. Objective: Students will review Nature of Science standards using the PENDA science program. Earth s layers affect life on Earth? Evaluation or Rubric: score 80% or above on activities assigned. Text/Materials: computer lab, PENDA science activities Agenda: 1. Log onto PENDA (if students have not done so in math class); choose avatar (5 minutes); discuss assignments and score that needs to be obtained for mastery (80% or above) Benchmark SC.6/7.N.11 Cornell notes PENDA science on computer for students completing. 2. computer lab assignment nature of science, theories/laws, models

Exit Card: none computer lab Homework: Log on to Connect ED at home PENDA assignments Tuesday 10-7 Bell Ringer: Gravity is ( force that every object exerts on every other object). of solid Earth and know the changes in Earth's features result from events occurring within and between Earth's layers. Objective: Students will describe how Earth formed.. Earth s layers affect life on Earth. Text/Materials: text: Chapter one Lessons 1 and 2 Agenda: Introduce learning scale Demo: Launch Lab How do you model Earth's Spheres? 1.Review answers to page one of the Page Kelly Science Probe sheet (completed last week). 2.Complete pages 2 and 3 using pages Discuss correct answers. Exit Card: Density is the amount of (mass per unit volume) Homework: PENDA assignments SC.7E.6.1 Wednesday 10-8 Bell Ringer: The strength of the gravitational pull between two objects is affected by and (mass and distance). of solid Earth s features and know the changes in within and between Earth's layers. Objective: Students use the physical property of SC.8.P.8.3

density to compare substances. Earth s spheres affect life on Earth? Text/Materials: samples of softdrinks; container for water, water; doc camera, individual white boards Agenda:Introduce learning scale SC.8.P.8.3 (density) 1.Cornell notes-density 2.Demonstration-density of various sodas (hypothesis, collect data), use white boards to show groups hypothesis). 3.Questions and summary on Cornell Notes Exit Card: Rate yourself on the learning scale for SC.8P.8.3 Homework: PENDA assignments Thursday 10-9 Bell Ringer: Calculate the density of an object that has a mass of 30 grams and a volume of 5 ml (6g/ml) of solid Earth and know the changes in Earth's features result from events occurring within and between Earth's layers. Objective: Students will list and describe the layers of the Earth.. Essential Question: How do the interactions of Earth s spheres affect life on Earth? Text/Materials: Chapater 1, paper for foldables, markers, scissors Agenda: Safari montage video clip (1:36) Inside Earth discuss 1.Using text pages 19-25, produce a four flap foldable of the layers of the Earth.

2.Mark the flap with arrows that show that temperature and pressure increase with depth. Students will fill in description of each layer under the flap. Staple to page in ISN. 3.Draw and label the layers of the earth on page of ISN. Exit Card: The layers of the earth that are solid are the,,. Homework:. PENDA ASSIGNMENTS Friday Bell Ringer: Scientists are able to learn about the interior of the Earth because of.(indirectly observing seismic waves). Learning Goal: Students will describe the layers of solid earth and know the changes in within and between Earth's Layers. Objective: Students will show mastery of structure of the Earth' concepts. Earth s spheres affect life on Earth? Text/Materials: paper, pencil Agenda: Learning scale products 1.Correctly label a diagram of the interior of the Earth. 2.Correctly label a diagram of the interior of the Earth and describe what makes up each layer. 3.Correctly label a diagram of the interior of the Earth and describe what makes up each layer. Explain how the interaction of Earth's layers affects life on Earth. 4.Earthquake waves help scientists understand what Earth's interior is like. What other area(s) of science currently depend upon indirect observations? Exit Card: none-assessment

Homework: PENDA assignments Accommodations are provided to each student based on his or her individual education plan and are designed to accelerate the student to access and master the benchmarks..
