3 The Building Block of all Matters One has periodic table of all elements found on Earth that form to be all matters Udom Robkob, Physics-MUSC 42 Particle Physics Phenomenology April 26, / 18
4 The Building Block of all Matters Physics can go deeper inside the atomic system and found atomic nuclei and their particle, the nucleons This structure was first found by Rutherford, who used alpha particle as a probe or microscope in looking for atomic structure With a simple quantum idea, as λ = h/p, one can probe a small particle of side D λ/2 (It is the resonance tunneling/scattering.) 5 Particle Accelerators and Detectors From the equation of motion of a particle of mass m and charge q under electromagnetic field m d v dt = q ( E + v B ) One can see that the particle got accelerated by the electric field E, with the energy gain P = q E v, and changed direction by the magnetic field B, without any energy gain form the field.
