3 Figures & Grooved Butterfl Valve Flow Characteristics The uniqueness of the grooved valve begins with the spherical bore of the disc seat area which facilitates a constant disc to seat loading that maintains a leak tight stem seal regardless of disc position. Because seal force is constant throughout the full disc ccle, operating torques are kept low thus increasing valve life. The grooved butterfl valve is the grooved end valve with the lowest pressure loss. This is accomplished b combining the best features of ball valve and butterfl designs. Utilizing the spherical bore of a ball valve design enables the use of a thin profile disc with much narrower leading edges which, while providing a bubble tight seal affords the advantage of minimal flow turbulence through the valve. This reduces pressure loss and allows more precise flow control over a wider range of flow conditions and disc positions. Also designed with the contractor in mind, the valve bod is a rugged one-piece casting with integral mounting base for either manual operated or remote controlled actuation while providing room for vital pipe sstem insulation. The Shurjoint Model SJ-200 Butterfl Valve is a low profile, grooved-end butterfl valve designed for oil & gas, mining and other service applications. The working pressure is rated up to 16 Bar (232 psi) and service temperatures are rated to 2 C (10 F) (Nitrile bod liner). The Model SJ-200 features a full rubber lined bod with 316 stainless steel disc. This makes the SJ-200 great for mining, oil and gas applications due to its superior abrasive and corrosion resistance. The end to end dimensions conform to MSS SP-67. It is a grooved-end bubble tight shut-off valve with endto-end dimensions that meet MSS SP-67, Table 4 and a mounting pad that meets ISO 5211 for the mounting of power actuators. 16 , J 2 Shurjoint Model SJ-530 Ball Valve (3 Port) Shurjoint Tech Data Sheet: J-40 The Shurjoint Model SJ-530 is a grooved-end three-port ball valve designed to divert media from bottom inlet to either of the two outlets ports. The valve port is a regular port size and the stem is a blowout proof design to MSS-SP-72 and API Standard 60. The valve is supplied with a carbon steel lever handle equipped with a tamper resistant locking device. Valve Sizing All balancing valves are sized to perform in a normal operation range between 25% and 100% of the full open position, at a minimum differential pressure between m (1 3 ft.) of water. It is recoended that for improved accurac, the valve is set to open 70%+. When maximum flow is known but a pressure drop through the balancing valve is unknown, select a balancing valve for a maximum pressure drop of 0.6m (2 ft.) water 0.06 Bar (0. psi) in the full open position as shown in the table to the right. Accurate flow measurement requires that the velocit distribution near the balancing valve remains constant, regardless of the total flow through the pipe. Fittings, such as elbows and tees, disturb the normal flow profile which is established through straight pipe. Pumps create even greater disturbances. Failure to allow water flows around fittings and pumps to normalize can affect measuring accurac b as much as 20% when the valve is in the full open position.
