The Cputo the Cputo Hdmrd frctionl derivtives re specil cses of this new opertor. An existence uniqueness theorem for frctionl Cuchy type problem, with dependence on the Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive, is proven. A decomposition formul for the Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive is obtined. This formul llows us to provide simple numericl procedure to solve the frctionl differentil eqution. Mthemtics Subject Clssifiction 2010: 26A33, 34A08, 34K28. Keywords: frctionl clculus, frctionl differentil equtions, Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive, numericl methods. 1 Introduction Frctionl clculus is nturl extension of ordinry clculus, where integrls derivtives re defined for rbitrry rel orders. Since 17th century, when frctionl clculus ws born, severl different derivtives hve been introduced: Riemnn-Liouville, Hdmrd, Grunwld Letnikov, Cputo, just tomentionfew [13,14,17], echofthem withitsowndvntgesdisdvntges. The choice of n pproprite frctionl derivtive (or integrl) depends on the considered system, forthisresonwefindlrgenumberofworksdevotedtodifferentfrctionlopertors. Onthe other h, it is nturl to look for study generlized frctionl opertors, for which the known ones re prticulr cses. Recently, U. Ktugmpol presented new types of frctionl opertors, which generlize both the Riemnn Liouville Hdmrd frctionl opertors [9, 10, 11]. In this pper we present new frctionl opertor, clled the Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive, which generlizes the concept of Cputo Cputo Hdmrd frctionl derivtives (Section 2). The new opertor is the left inverse of the Ktugmpol frctionl integrl keeps some of the fundmentl properties of the Cputo Cputo Hdmrd frctionl derivtives. In Section 3 we study frctionl differentil eqution (FDE), where the differentil opertor is the Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive, showing n existence uniqueness theorem for the Cuchy type problem. Section 4 provides n pproximted expnsion of the Cputo Ktugmpol derivtive, tht 1
involves only the first-order derivtive. Applying this formul to given Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl Cuchy problem we obtin sequence of systems of N +1 ordinry differentil equtions with N +1 initil conditions, where N N. A sequence (x N ) of the solutions to those systems of ODE s converges to the solution of the frctionl problem. The numericl procedure to solve the frctionl differentil eqution is presented in Section 5 throughout n exmple. Finlly, Section 6 contins some conclusions. 2 Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtive In [9], the uthor introduced new frctionl integrl opertors, clled the Ktugmpol frctionl integrls, in the following wy: I α,ρ + x(t) = ρ1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αx(τ)dτ, b I α,ρ ρ1 α x(r) = Γ(α) t (τ ρ t ρ ) 1 αx(τ)dτ, where 0 < < b <, x : [,b] R is n integrble function, α (0,1) ρ > 0 two fixed rel numbers. Then, in [10], it ppered generliztion to the Riemnn Liouville Hdmrd frctionl derivtives, clled the Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives: D α,ρ + x(t) = ρ α d Γ(1 α) t1 ρ dt (t ρ τ ρ ) αx(τ)dτ, D α,ρ ρα x(t) = d b Γ(1 α) t1 ρ dt t (τ ρ t ρ ) αx(τ)dτ. The reltion between these two frctionl opertors is the following: D α,ρ + x(t) = d t1 ρ dt I1 α,ρ + x(t) D α,ρ x(r) = d t1 ρ dt I1 α,ρ x(r). Also, when α > 0 is n integer, these frctionl integrls re generliztions of the n-fold integrls b t 1 dτ 1 τ1 τn 1 2 dτ 2... τn ρ 1 x(τ n )dτ n b b 1 dτ 1 2 dτ 2... τn ρ 1 x(τ n )dτ n, τ 1 τ n 1 respectively. Motivted by those definitions, we introduce new frctionl derivtive s follows. Definition 1. Let 0 < < b <, x : [,b] R be n integrble function, α (0,1) ρ > 0 two fixed rels. The left right Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives of order α re defined by + x(t) = Dα,ρ + [x(t) x()] = ρ α d Γ(1 α) t1 ρ dt (t ρ τ ρ ) α[x(τ) x()]dτ, respectively. ρα x(t) = Dα,ρ [x(t) x(b)] = d Γ(1 α) t1 ρ dt b t (τ ρ t ρ ) α[x(τ) x(b)]dτ, 2
Observe tht, when x() = 0 (resp. x(b) = 0), the left (resp. right) Cputo Ktugmpol the Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives coincide. Moreover, there exists reltion between these two types of frctionl derivtives. Nmely, if both types of frctionl derivtive exist, then + x(t) = Dα,ρ + [x(t) x()] = Dα,ρ + x(t) Dα,ρ x()ρα + x() = Dα,ρ + x(t) Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) α, (1) x(t) = Dα,ρ [x(t) x(b)] = Dα,ρ Theorem 1. Let x C 1 ([,b]). Then, Proof. Tking C D+x(t) α,ρ ρ α = Γ(1 α) ρα x(t) = Γ(1 α) then integrting by prts we obtin x(t) Dα,ρ x(b)ρα x(b) = Dα,ρ x(t) Γ(1 α) (bρ t ρ ) α. b t (t ρ τ ρ ) α x (τ)dτ, (τ ρ t ρ ) α x (τ)dτ. u (τ) = (t ρ τ ρ ) α v(τ) = x(τ) x(), + x(t) = ρ α Γ(1 α) t1 ρ d dt u (τ)v(τ)dτ. We my now differentite the integrl, with respect to vrible t, to conclude tht C D+x(t) α,ρ ρ α = Γ(1 α) The second formul cn be proven in similr wy. (t ρ τ ρ ) α x (τ)dτ. Remrk 1. Observe tht, from Theorem 1, we immeditely obtin the following: ( + x(t) = I1 α,ρ + τ 1 ρ d ) ( dτ x (t) x(t) = I1 α,ρ τ 1 ρ d ) dτ x (t), (2) where I 1 α,ρ + I 1 α,ρ denote the left right Ktugmpol frctionl integrls. Remrk 2. Although in Definition 1 we put α (0,1), it is possible to define the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives for n rbitrry α > 0. Let n be the smllest integer greter thn α. Then, the left right Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives of order α > 0 re defined by ρα n+1 + x(t) = Γ(n α) τ (ρ 1)(1 n) (t ρ τ ρ ) α n+1x(n) (τ)dτ, x(t) = ( 1)n ρ α n+1 b τ (ρ 1)(1 n) Γ(n α) t (τ ρ t ρ ) α n+1x(n) (τ)dτ, respectively. In this cse, when ρ = 1, we obtin the left right Cputo frctionl derivtives (cf. [13]), for ρ 0 +, ttending tht lim ρ 0 +(t ρ τ ρ )/ρ = ln(t/τ), we obtin the left right Cputo Hdmrd frctionl derivtives s defined in [5, 8]. Now let us prove tht the left the right Ktugmpol frctionl integrls re bounded in the spce of continuous functions. 3
Theorem 2. The opertors I α,ρ + Iα,ρ re liner bounded from C([,b]) to C([,b]), i.e., I α,ρ + x C K α,ρ x C, where x C = mx t [,b] x(t). Proof. For ny x C([,b]), one hs ρ 1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αx(τ) dτ ρ1 α Γ(α) x C I α,ρ x C K α,ρ x C, with K α,ρ = ρ α Γ(α+1) (bρ ρ ) α, (3) (t ρ τ ρ dτ ) 1 α ρ α Γ(α+1) (bρ ρ ) α x C. In the cse of the right Ktugmpol frctionl integrl, the proof is similr. Using the bove lemm, one cn show the following theorem concerning continuity of the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives. Theorem 3. Let x C 1 ([,b]). Then, the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives + x x exist re continuous on the intervl [,b]. Moreover, + x(t) = 0 t t =, x(t) = 0 t t = b. Proof. Knowing tht ( + x(t) = I1 α,ρ + τ 1 ρ d ) dτ x (t), by Theorem 2, we get continuity of + x. In order to prove the second prt, we strt with the formul + x(t) = ρ α (t ρ τ ρ ) α x (τ)dτ, Γ(1 α) tht holds for ll t [,b]. Now, letting M = mx t [,b] t 1 ρ x (t), we obtin + x(t) M ρ α 1 Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α. Therefore, +x(t) = 0 t t =. One cn obtin the results for the right Cputo-Ktugmpol frctionl derivtive in similr wy. In the spce C 1 ([,b]) we consider the norm x C 1 := mx x(t) + mx t [,b] t [,b] x (t). Also, we define the two subspces C ([,b]) C b ([,b]) of the spce C([,b]) by endowed with the norm C ([,b]) := {x C([,b]) : x() = 0}, C b ([,b]) := {x C([,b]) : x(b) = 0}, x C := mx t [,b] x(t). Theorem 4. The Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives + opertors from C 1 ([,b]) to C ([,b]) C b ([,b]), respectively. Moreover, where + x C M x C 1 M = ρα 1 (b ρ ρ ) 1 α Γ(2 α) x C M x C 1, mx{ 1 ρ,b 1 ρ }. re bounded 4
Proof. It is n immedite consequence of (2) Theorem 2. Under pproprite ssumptions, the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtives Ktugmpol frctionl integrls re inverse opertions of ech other. In fct, we hve the following. Theorem 5. Let x C([,b]). Then, + Iα,ρ + x(t) = x(t). Proof. Using formul (1), by Theorem 3.2 in [10], we hve + Iα,ρ + x(t) = Dα,ρ + Iα,ρ + x(t) ρ α = x(t) Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) α[ I α,ρ + x(t)] t= ρ α Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) α[ I α,ρ + x(t)] t=. On the other h, since x is continuous function, there exists M = mx t [,b] x(t). Then, I α,ρ + x(t) M ρ1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αdτ = M ρ α Γ(1+α) (tρ ρ ) α, I α,ρ + x(t) = 0 t t =. Thus, +I α,ρ + x(t) = x(t). Theorem 6. Let x C 1 ([,b]). Then, I α,ρ + + x(t) = x(t) x(). Proof. By Theorem 4.1 in [9] by the definition of the Ktugmpol frctionl integrl, we hve I α,ρ + C D+x(t) α,ρ = I α,ρ + I 1 α,ρ + (t 1 ρ x (t)) = I+(t 1,ρ 1 ρ x (t)) = τ 1 ρ x (τ)dτ = x(t) x(). Lemm 1. For v > 0, define ( t ρ ρ ) v ( b ρ t ρ ) v x(t) = y(t) =. ρ ρ Then, +x(t) = ρα v Γ(1+v) Γ(1 α+v) (tρ ρ ) v α Proof. By Theorem 1, + x(t) = ρ α Γ(1 α) y(t) = ρα v Γ(1+v) Γ(1 α+v) (bρ t ρ ) v α. ( τ (t ρ τ ρ ) α v ρ ρ ) v 1 dτ. ρ Performing the chnge of vribles u = (τ ρ ρ )/(t ρ ρ ), using the Bet function B(, ), we get C D+x(t) α,ρ = ρα v v 1 Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) v α (1 u) α u v 1 du = ρα v v Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) v α B(1 α,v) = ρα v v Γ(1 α) (tρ ρ ) v αγ(1 α)γ(v) Γ(1 α+v) = ρα v Γ(1+v) Γ(1 α+v) (tρ ρ ) v α. The second formul cn be proven in similr wy. 0 5
Remrk 3. If ρ = 1, then we obtin the power function x(t) = (t ) v, s ρ 0 +, we get x(t) = (ln(t/)) v. The expressions obtined in Lemm 1 coincide with the ones given in Property 2.16 [13] Property 2.6 [8]. Let us recll the definition of the Mittg Leffler function. Definition 2. The Mittg Leffler function with dependence on two prmeters µ β is defined by the series x k E µ,β (x) =, µ > 0β > 0. Γ(µk +β) where µ,β C, Re(µ) > 0, Re(β) > 0. When µ,β R µ,β > 0, the series is convergent. As prticulr cse, when β = 1, we obtin E µ (x) = x k Γ(µk +1), µ > 0. When µ = 1, the Mittg Leffler function reduces to the exponentil function, E 1 (x) = exp(x). Lemm 2. For µ > 0, β 1 λ R, we hve ( + (t ρ ρ ) β 1 E µ,β [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ] ) { ρ = α (t ρ ρ ) β α 1 E µ,β α [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ] if β > 1 λρ α (t ρ ρ ) µ α E µ,µ α+1 [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ] if β = 1 ( (b ρ t ρ ) β 1 E µ,β [λ(b ρ t ρ ) µ ] ) { ρ = α (b ρ t ρ ) β α 1 E µ,β α [λ(b ρ t ρ ) µ ] if β > 1 λρ α (b ρ t ρ ) µ α E µ,µ α+1 [λ(b ρ t ρ ) µ ] if β = 1. Proof. Let β > 1. Using Lemm 1, we hve the following ( + (t ρ ρ ) β 1 E µ,β [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ] ) = For β = 1, we hve tht = λ k Γ(µk +β) +(t ρ ρ ) µk+β 1 λ k ρ α Γ(µk +β) Γ(µk +β) Γ(µk +β α) (tρ ρ ) µk+β α 1 = ρ α (t ρ ρ ) β α 1 E µ,β α [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ]. + (E µ,1[λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ]) = + 1+ λ k + Γ(µk +1) (tρ ρ ) µk λ k ρ α Γ(µk +1) = Γ(µk +1) Γ(µk α+1) (tρ ρ ) µk α = λρ α (t ρ ρ ) µ α λ k Γ(µk +µ α+1) (tρ ρ ) µk = λρ α (t ρ ρ ) µ α E µ,µ α+1 [λ(t ρ ρ ) µ ]. The formul for the right frctionl derivtives cn be proven in similr wy. In prticulr, setting µ = β = 1, we get the formuls for the frctionl derivtive of the exponentil functions: + (exp[λ(tρ ρ )]) = λρ α (t ρ ρ ) 1 α E 1,2 α [λ(t ρ ρ )] (exp[λ(bρ t ρ )]) = λρ α (b ρ t ρ ) 1 α E 1,2 α [λ(b ρ t ρ )]. 6
Observe tht, for ρ = 1 α 1, we obtin the usul derivtive of the exponentil function: For α = µ > 0 λ R, we hve d (exp[λ(t )]) = λexp[λ(t )]. dt + (E α[λ(t ρ ρ ) α ]) = λρ α E α [λ(t ρ ρ ) α ] (E α[λ(b ρ t ρ ) α ]) = λρ α E α [λ(b ρ t ρ ) α ]. 3 Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl Cuchy problem Consider the nonliner frctionl differentil eqution of order α (0, 1), with the initil condition + x(t) = f(t,x(t)), t [,b], (4) x() = x, x R, (5) where f : [,b] R R is continuous function with respect to ll its rguments. We seek conditions tht gurntee the existence uniqueness of solution to problem (4) (5) in the following set of functions U := { x C([,b]) : + x C([,b])}. First, let us observe tht, for x C([,b]), the Cuchy type problem (4) (5) is equivlent to the problem of finding solutions to the following Volterr integrl eqution x(t) = x + ρ1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ. (6) Indeed, if x C([,b]) stisfies (4) (5), then pplying opertor I α,ρ + to the both sides of (4), using the initil condition (5) pplying Theorem 6 we obtin eqution (6). Conversely, tking t +, we see tht the initil condition (5) is stisfied pplying opertor + to both sides of (6), by Theorem 5, we rrive to problem (4) (5). Now we will use the bove results to prove the following theorem, ensuring the existence uniqueness of solution to the Cuchy type problem (4) (5). Theorem 7. Let f : [,b] R R be continuous function Lipschitz with respect to the second vrible, i.e., f(t,x 1 ) f(t,x 2 ) < L x 1 x 2, (L > 0), (7) for ll t [,b] ll x 1,x 2 R. Then, the Cuchy type problem (4) (5) possesses unique solution in the spce U. Proof. The proof is similr in spirit to [12, 13]. We strt by showing tht, for (4) (5), there exists unique solution x C([,b]). Let us recll tht the Cuchy type problem (4) (5) is equivlent to the problem of finding solutions to the Volterr integrl eqution (6). This llows us to use the well known method, for nonliner Volterr integrl equtions, where first we prove existence uniqueness of solutions on subintervl of [, b]. Let us choose < t 1 < b to be such tht the following condition is stisfied 0 < L ρ α Γ(α+1) (tρ 1 ρ ) α < 1. (8) 7
We shll prove the existence of unique solution x C([,t 1 ]) to (6) on the subintervl [,t 1 ] [, b]. Let us define the following integrl opertor: S : C([,b]) C([,b]) x(t) Sx(t) := x + ρ1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ, rewrite (6) in the form x(t) = Sx(t). Note tht S is well defined is bounded opertor on the complete metric spce C([,b]) (by Theorem 2). Using Theorem 2 the condition (7) one hs Sx 1 Sx 2 C([,t1]) I α,ρ + (f(t,x 1 ) f(t,x 2 )) C([,t1]) L I α,ρ + (x 1 x 2 ) C([,t1]) L ρ α Γ(α+1) (tρ 1 ρ ) α x 1 x 2 C([,t1]) becuse condition (8) is stisfied, by the Bnch fixed point theorem, there exists unique solution x 1 C([,t 1 ]) to the eqution (6) on the intervl [,t 1 ]. Moreover, if we define the sequence x 1 m (t) := Sm x 0 (t) where, for x 0 (t) = x, S m x 0 (t) := x 0 (t)+ ρ1 α Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,sm 1 x 0 (τ)) dτ, m = 1,2,..., then, gin, by the Bnch fixed point theorem, we obtin the solution x 1 s limit of the sequence x 1 m, i.e., lim x 1 m x 1 = 0. C([,t1]) m Now, let us choose t 2 = t 1 +h 1, with h 1 > 0 such tht t 2 < b Consider the intervl [t 1,t 2 ] write eqution (6) in the form x(t) = x 0 (t)+ ρ1 α Γ(α) t 1 0 < L ρ α Γ(α+1) (tρ 2 tρ 1 )α < 1. (10) ρ1 α (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ + Γ(α) 1 (9) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ. (11) Becuse on the intervl [,t 1 ], eqution (11) possesses unique solution, we cn rewrite (11) s follows x(t) = x 01 (t)+ ρ1 α Γ(α) t 1 (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ, where x 01 (t) = x 0 (t)+ ρ1 α t1 Γ(α) (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 αf(τ,x(τ)) dτ is the known function. By the sme rgument s before, we prove tht there exists unique solution x 2 C([t 1,t 2 ]) to eqution (6) on [t 1,t 2 ]. Repeting the previous resoning, choosing t k = t k 1 +h k 1 such tht h k 1 > 0, t k < b 0 < L ρ α Γ(α+1) (tρ k tρ k 1 )α < 1, (12) we see tht eqution (6) possesses solution x k C([x k 1,x k ]) on ech intervl [x k 1,x k ] (k = 1,...,l), where = x 0 < x 1 < < x l = b we conclude tht for problem (4)-(5), there exists unique solution x C([,b]). It remins to prove tht x U, i.e., we need to show tht + x C([,b]). Recll tht our solution x cn be pproximted by the sequence x m (t) = S m x 0 (t), i.e., lim x m x m C([,b]) = 0, 8
with the choice of certin x m on ech intervl [,t 1 ],...,[t l 1,b]. Using (4) the Lipschitz type condition (7) we hve + x m + x C([,b]) = f(t,x m ) f(t,x) C([,b]) L x m x C([,b]), then, tking m, one hs lim m +x m C D+x α,ρ C([,b]) = 0. Since + x m(t) = f(t,x m (t)) is continuous on [,b] we hve tht + x belongs to the spce C([, b]). The proof is complete. 4 Numericl pproch to the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl Cuchy problem In this section we prove n pproximtion formul for the Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtive, tht depends only on the first-order derivtive of function x. With this tool in h, for given Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl Cuchy problem we cn consider sequence of systems of N +1 ordinry differentil equtions with N +1 initil conditions, where N N. A sequence (x N ) of the solutions to those systems converges to the solution of the frctionl problem. Theorem 8. Let x : [,b] R be function of clss C 2, N 1 n integer. Define the quntities A N = ρα 1 Γ(k 1+α), Γ(2 α) Γ(α 1)k! ρ α Γ(k 1+α) B N,k = Γ(2 α)γ(α 1)(k 1)!, k = 1,...,N, functions V k : [,b] R by Then, with Proof. Set V k (t) = + x(t) = A N(t ρ ρ ) 1 α t 1 ρ x (t) (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 x (τ)dτ, k = 1,...,N. B N,k (t ρ ρ ) 1 α k V k (t)+e N (t), (13) lim E N(t) = 0, t [,b]. N u (τ) = (t ρ τ ρ ) α Then, integrting by prts we obtin + x(t) = ρ α Γ(1 α) (t ρ τ ρ ) α x (τ)dτ = ρα 1 Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α 1 ρ x ()+ ρα 1 Γ(2 α) v(τ) = τ 1 ρ x (τ). (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 α d dτ Using the generlized binomil theorem, we get the decomposition ( (t ρ τ ρ ) 1 α = (t ρ ρ ) 1 α 1 τρ ρ ) 1 α t ρ ρ ( = (t ρ ρ ) 1 α Γ(k 1+α) τ ρ ρ ) k Γ(α 1)k! t ρ ρ. 9 ( τ 1 ρ x (τ) ) dτ.
Substituting this series into the expression of the frctionl derivtive, we obtin where ρα 1 + x(t) = Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α 1 ρ x ()+ ρα 1 (t ρ ρ ) 1 α Γ(2 α) ( Γ(k 1+α) τ ρ ρ ) k d ( τ 1 ρ Γ(α 1)k! t ρ ρ x (τ) ) dτ +E N (t), dτ E N (t) = ρα 1 Γ(2 α) (t ρ ρ ) 1 α k=n+1 Γ(k 1+α) Γ(α 1)k! Now, let us split the sum into k = 0 k = 1,...,N, tht is, ( τ ρ ρ t ρ ρ ρα 1 + x(t) = Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α t 1 ρ x (t)+ ρα 1 Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α Γ(k 1+α) Γ(α 1)k!(t ρ ρ ) k (τ ρ ρ ) k d dτ Setting u(τ) = (τ ρ ρ ) k v (τ) = d ( τ 1 ρ x (τ) ) dτ then integrting by prts, we obtin [ ] C D+x(t) α,ρ = ρα 1 Γ(2 α) (tρ ρ ) 1 α t 1 ρ x Γ(k 1+α) (t) 1+ Γ(α 1)k! ρα Γ(2 α) It remins to show tht Γ(k 1+α) Γ(α 1)(k 1)! (tρ ρ ) 1 α k lim E N(t) = 0, t [,b], N ) k d ( τ 1 ρ x (τ) ) dτ. dτ ( τ 1 ρ x (τ) ) dτ +E N (t). (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 x (τ)dτ +E N (t). to do this we determine n upper bound for the error. Since τ [,t], we hve ( Γ(k 1+α) τ ρ ρ ) k Γ(α 1)k! t ρ ρ exp((1 α) 2 +1 α) k 2 α Tking k=n+1 we get the following upper bound: N exp((1 α) 2 +1 α) k 2 α k=n+1 dk = exp((1 α)2 +1 α) N 1 α. (1 α) M(t) := mx d ( τ [,t] τ 1 ρ x (τ) ), dτ ρ α 1 E N (t) M(t) exp((1 α)2 +1 α) N 1 α (t ρ ρ ) 1 α dτ (1 α) Γ(2 α) = M(t) exp((1 α)2 +1 α)ρ α 1 N 1 α (t ρ ρ ) 1 α (t ), (1 α)γ(2 α) which converges to zero s N goes to, for l t [,b]. Remrk 4. We stress tht, when ρ = 1, Theorem 8 reduces to the one proven in [2, 16], s ρ 0 +, we obtin the min result of [15]. 10
In n nlogous wy we obtin decomposition formul for the right Cputo Ktugmpol frctionl derivtive. The proof is omitted, since it is similr to the proof of Theorem 8. Theorem 9. Let x : [,b] R be function of clss C 2, N 1 n integer. Define the quntities A N = ρα 1 Γ(k 1+α), Γ(2 α) Γ(α 1)k! ρ α Γ(k 1+α) B N,k = Γ(2 α)γ(α 1)(k 1)!, k = 1,...,N, functions W k : [,b] R by Then, W k (t) = b t (b ρ τ ρ ) k 1 x (τ)dτ, k = 1,...,N. such tht x(t) = A N(b ρ t ρ ) 1 α t 1 ρ x (t)+ B N,k (b ρ t ρ ) 1 α k W k (t)+e N (t), lim E N(t) = 0, t [,b]. N Due to the complexity of solving nlyticlly frctionl differentil equtions, numericl tools re often pplied to solve the given problems (see e.g. [3, 4, 7, 18, 20, 21]). We now present simple but efficient method to solve frctionl differentil eqution s presented in Section 3. The ide is to replce the frctionl derivtive + x in the differentil eqution by n pproximtion given in Theorem 8 up to order N N. In this wy we obtin system of N + 1 ODE s, with N + 1 initil conditions. The dvntge of this procedure is tht fter replcing the frctionl derivtive by the expnsion which involves ordinry derivtives only, we no longer del with frctionl differentil eqution but with system of ordinry differentil equtions. With this, we cn pply ny known technique from the literture (nlyticl or numericl) to solve the problem. The solution to this system x N obviously depends on N. However, the sequence (x N ) converges to the solution of the frctionl differentil eqution in neighborhood of the initil point. We refer to [1], where similr problems, with dependence of Cputo Riemnn-Liouville frctionl derivtives, re ddressed. Recll tht the Cuchy type problem (4) (5) is equivlent to the problem of finding solutions to the Volterr integrl eqution (6). This lst eqution, using (2), cn be rewritten in the following wy: [ ] x(t) = x()+ C D 1 α,ρ + f(τ,x(τ)) dτ. Applying the decomposition formul given in Theorem 8, we obtin x(t) = x()+a N (t ρ ρ ) α f(t,x(t)) B N,k (t ρ ρ ) α k V k (t)+e N (t), (14) where A N = ρ α Γ(k α) Γ(1+α) Γ( α)k!, B N,k ρ 1 α Γ(k α) =, fork {1,...,N}, Γ(1+α)Γ( α)(k 1)! V k (t) = (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 f(τ,x(τ)) dτ, fork {1,...,N}, 11
the error is bounded by the formul with E N (t) M(t) exp(α2 +α)ρ α αn α Γ(1+α) (tρ ρ ) α (t ), M(t) := mx d τ [,t] dτ f(τ,x(τ)). In order to get n pproximted solution, x N, we truncte the formul up to order N, receiving where x N (t) = x()+a N (t ρ ρ ) α f(t,x N (t)) V k,n (t) = (we remrk tht x N () = x()). B N,k (t ρ ρ ) α k V k,n (t) (15) (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 f(τ,x N (τ)) dτ, fork {1,...,N}, Theorem 10. Let f : [,b] R R be continuous function Lipschitz with respect to the second vrible (see (7)). For N N, let x x N be given by conditions (14) (15), respectively. Also, let T R be rel in the open intervl ( ( ) 1) 1 ρ Γ(1+α) < T < ρ α +ρ. L Then, for ll t [,T], x N (t) x(t) s N. Proof. Strting with reltions (14) (15) we hve x N (t) x(t) A N (t ρ ρ ) α f(t,x N (t)) f(t,x(t)) + B N,k (t ρ ρ ) α k V k,n (t) V k (t) + E N (t) for ll t [,T]. Define As consequence of the following reltions: δx N := mx t [,T] x N(t) x(t). f(t,x N (t)) f(t,x(t)) L x N (t) x(t) Lδx N ; V k,n (t) V k (t) = (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 f(τ,x N (τ)) f(τ,x(τ)) dτ Lδx N (τ ρ ρ ) k 1 dτ = Lδx N kρ (tρ ρ ) k ; A N = ρ α Γ(k α) Γ(1+α) Γ( α)k! = ρ α Γ(N +1 α) Γ(1+α) Γ( α) αγ(n +1) ρ α Γ(N +1 α) = 1, Γ(N +1 α) Γ(1+α)Γ(1 α) Γ(N +1) ρ α απ Γ(N +1) by the Euler s reflection formul eqution (3) in [6], B N,k (t ρ ρ ) α k V k,n (t) V k (t) Lδx N(t ρ ρ ) α Γ(k α) ρ α Γ(1+α) Γ( α) k! Lδx N(t ρ ρ ) α [ Γ(N +1 α) ρ α Γ(1+α) Γ( α) αγ(n +1) Lδx [ N 1 ρ α (tρ ρ ) α Γ(N +1 α) + απ Γ(N +1) 12 ] + Γ( α) 1 Γ(1+α) ],
we conclude tht x N (t) x(t) Lδx N ρ α (tρ ρ ) α [ 2 Γ(N +1 α) + απ Γ(N +1) ] 1 + E N (t) Γ(1+α) for ll t [,T]. Tking the mximum, over t [,T], on both sides of the inequlity, we get δx N Lδx [ ] N 2 ρ α (Tρ ρ ) α Γ(N +1 α) mx απ Γ(N +1) Γ(1+α) E N(t). (16) t [,T] It is obvious tht lim E N(t) = 0. N Moreover, s consequence of the Stirling s formul (see e.g. [19]), we hve Therefore, setting N in (16) we obtin [ 1 lim N δx N Γ(N +1 α) lim = 0. N Γ(N +1) by the definition of T, we must hve δx N 0. Since L ρ α Γ(1+α) (Tρ ρ ) α ] 0, From Eq. (16) we obtin tht [ δx N 1 L [ ]] 2 ρ α(tρ ρ ) α Γ(N +1 α) 1 + mx απ Γ(N +1) Γ(1+α) E N(t). t [,T] 0 < L ρ α(tρ ρ ) α < Γ(1+α), we hve 2Γ(1+α)Γ(N +1 α) 1 L [ ] 2 απγ(n +1) ρ α(tρ ρ ) α Γ(N +1 α) 1 + < 1. απ Γ(N +1) Γ(1+α) Therefore, for N sufficiently lrge, by Γ(N +1 α) lim = 0, N Γ(N +1) we get tht there exists function C (depending on α,ρ,t, but independent of N) such tht δx N CN α 1. 5 Exmples In this section we provide two exmples of pplictions of the results presented in Section 4. Exmple 1. Let x(t) = (t ρ 1) 2, with t [1,2], be test function. By Lemm 1, we hve tht 2ρα 1+ x(t) = Γ(3 α) (tρ 1) 2 α. In Figures 1, 2 3 (on the left side) the exct frctionl derivtive of the function (continuous line) with different numericl pproximtions of the frctionl derivtive (dot lines), for different vlues of α (0,1), ρ > 0 N N, re compred. The error between the exct the numericl pproximtions is mesured by the bsolute vlue of the difference between these two expressions, it is shown on the right side of figures. 13
Figure 1: For α = 0.5 ρ = 0.6. Figure 2: For α = 0.7 ρ = 0.2. Exmple 2. Consider the following Cuchy type problem 2ρα 1+ x(t) = x(t)+ Γ(3 α) (tρ 1) 2 α (t ρ 1) 2, t [1,2], x(1) = 0, It is esy to check tht the solution to this system is x(t) = (t ρ 1) 2. We shll compre this exct solution with n pproximtion solutions tht cn be obtined using the results presented in Section 4. Under the ssumption tht the set of dmissible functions is C 2 ([1,2]) we cn replce the frctionl opertor by the formul given in Theorem 8: 1+ x(t) A N(t ρ 1) 1 α t 1 ρ x (t) B N,k (t ρ 1) 1 α k V k (t), where A N B N,k re given s in Theorem 8, V k re defined by the solution to the system { V k (t) = (t ρ 1) k 1 x (t), t [1,2], V k (1) = 0, 14
Figure 3: For α = 0.4 ρ = 1.5. for k = 1,...,N. Thus, we obtin system of N +1 first-order differentil equtions with N +1 initil conditions: A N (t ρ 1) 1 α t 1 ρ x (t) x(t) B N,k (t ρ 1) 1 α k V k (t) = 2ρα Γ(3 α) (tρ 1) 2 α (t ρ 1) 2, V k (t) = (tρ 1) k 1 x (t), k = 1,...,N, x(1) = 0, V k (1) = 0, k = 1,...,N. Solutions, for different vlues of α,ρ N, re presented in Figures 4, 5 6 (on the left side). The error between the exct the numericl pproximtions is shown on the right side of figures. Figure 4: For α = 0.5 ρ = 0.6. Exmple 3. The solution to { C D α,ρ 0+ x(t) = ρα x(t), t [0,1], x(0) = 1, 15
Figure 5: For α = 0.7 ρ = 0.2. Figure 6: For α = 0.4 ρ = 1.5. is the Mittg Leffler function x(t) = E α (t ρα ). Replcing the frctionl derivtive by our pproximtion formul presented in Theorem 8, we obtin the following system of ordinry differentil equtions A N t 1 ρα x (t) B N,k t ρ(1 α k) V k (t) = ρ α x(t), t [0,1], V k (t) = tρ(k 1) x (t), k = 1,...,N, t [0,1], x(0) = 1, V k (0) = 0, k = 1,...,N. Solutions for N = 5,10,15 different vlues of α ρ re shown in Figures 7 8 (on the left side). The errors of the pproximtion re presented on the right side of the figures. 6 Conclusion In this pper we present new frctionl opertor, which generlizes the Cputo the Cputo Hdmrd frctionl derivtive. Some fundmentl properties of this opertor re presented proved. Then, n existence uniqueness theorem for frctionl Cuchy type problem is given. 16
Figure 7: For α = 0.9 ρ = 1.5. Figure 8: For α = 0.5 ρ = 5. In order to pply numericl procedure for solving the mentioned frctionl differentil problem, we provide decomposition formul for the new opertor in wy tht we cn rewrite it using only the first-order derivtive. Doing so, we cn pproximte the frctionl differentil eqution by n ordinry one, thus to determine n pproximte solution to the frctionl problem. We hope to cll the ttention of other reserchers to consider generlized frctionl opertors in order to void prolifertion of ppers devoted to frctionl opertors.
