Company Profile Surrich Hydrographics provides Level 1 Certified Hydrographic Services and Geophysical Services for activities including navigational safety, dredging, coastal zone management and habitat mapping. Our strengths include using the latest technology, acquiring high quality datasets and a wealth of project and technical experience. Key Services Best technology Provide solutions Reduce risk Add value to your project! Multi-beam bathymetry Single-beam bathymetry Seismic reflection/sub bottom profiling Seismic refraction Electrical resistivity imaging Marine magnetics Side scan sonar High resolution imaging of underwater infrastructure Tide analysis Seabed classification I habitat mapping Sediment sampling Additional Services Client representative Installation of monitoring equipment Data processing, imaging and programming services Assess data acquired by 3rd parties Land geophysical surveys
Project Experience Surrich principals, Andrew Richardson and Justin Anning, have worked on some of the largest marine infrastructure projects in Australia including: Browse Basin development, lchthys Project, Wheatstone LNG project, Gorgon Project, Cape Lambert export facilities Sino Iron Cape Preston export facilities, Pi Ibara Port Authority, (Port Hedland and Dampier Ports) Australian Marine Complex, Jervoise Bay, Gladstone Harbour, Queensland Anketell Port, Bunbury Port Albany Port Surrich Survey Catamaran "Intrepid" with Reson 7125 MBES
Equipment Surrich owns the following equipment: Reson /400kHz Multi beam Bathymetry System Odom Echotrac single beam echo sounder (200khz narrow beam transducer) Ceeducer single beam echo sounder (30/200kHz dua I frequency transducer) Applanix Wavemaster PosMV positioning system (IMU + GNSS) Trimble and Novatel RTK GNSS systems Valeport Sound Velocity Probes Various tide gauges Bolt Airguns (5,10 and 20cu.in, includes slimline borehole airguns) Air compressors (various electric and petrol models from 100 to 320L/minute) Geoeel Marine Seismic streamer and acquisition system Various side scan sonar systems 7m trailer mounted survey catamaran (can be mobilized to anywhere in Australia) Numerous acquisition and processing software applications Surrich seismic streamer on deck
Example- large Scale MBES Bathymetry Survey In 2012 Surrich acquired and processed 7500km of MBES data for the Port Hedland Port Authority. This work included development of an improved tide model for the port. 17 I u IO..-/ z t e I y S u r v e y e d 63 8 s
Example - Multibeam Bathymetry Echo Sounder (MBES) Our Reson 7125 multi-beam with Appian ix PosMV positioning is state of the art for water depths from shallow to 450m. The following perspective view shows a SOcm test cube on the seabed in 20m of water acquired at normal operating conditions and speed. The accurate shape and orientation of the cube are mapped on a single pass with multiple pings per visible face. Example - High Resolution 30 Imaging of Structures Surrich has working experience using the Blueview micro sonar system, which is more akin to laser scanner technology than bathymetry sonar. Deploying a system on the seabed around a structure allows detailed 30 mapping for inspection and detection of issues such as scouring. The following image from the Blueview brochure nicely shows the data density and resolution this equipment is capable of by imaging a common Besser Block.
Example - High Resolution 2D Imaging of Structures Surrich is experienced in rapid 20 imaging of concrete structures. The following image of a vertical concrete wall shows a water inlet grate set in in a channel in the wall. Seabed material is covering the grate preventing its removal for servicing. Minor deviations in the concrete from the construction formwork are also visible, as would be damage to the concrete. The blank spot at the centre of the image is the location of the sonar when the scan was performed. The bright sub-horizonta I line along the bottom is the seabed which partly covers the grate. The total diameter of the scan is 1Sm (I.E. a 7.Sm scan range).
HYDROGRAPH/CS Surrlch Hydrogrophlcs Pty Ltcl ACN: Example - Sub Bottom Profiling (SBP) Detailed pinger/chirp SBP equipment is utilized when the target zone is the top few metres of t he seabed. A rapid ping rate, fixed source-receiver separation and heave correction (as opposed to basic swell filtering), allows attributes such as roughness and amplitude of the reflectors to assist interpretation. The cores in the image below were collected using a pushrod arrangement..... "...-~... -:-...!... --~-...! '.' ' Boomer source SBP equipment is utilized on a routine basis. We have the experience and high end processing capabilities to ensure data quality. DISTANCE {METER) m.,, :i1 'i:!!) m 21., 1... <-> i rrich.com
HYDROGRAPH/CS Surrlch Hydrogrophlcs Pty Ltcl ACN: Example - 3D Visualization Bathymetry of the channel approach into a harbour. Comparing multiple datasets in 30 is a useful QC step ensuring correct positioning has been applied, in addition to interpretation visualization. rrich.com
HYDROGRAPH/CS Surrlch Hydrogrophlcs Pty Ltcl ACN: Example - Seismic Refraction Our system may be configured for surface tow configuration or on a robust platform which actively 'f lies' just off the seabed. We utilize a 20cu.in airgun and neutrally buoyant seismic streamer optimized for refraction, with spares available. The digital streamer is modular, in 8 channel sections with a choice of 1.Sm, 3m and 6m channel offset sections available for streamer configuration. The image below shows t he compressional wave velocity profile of the sub surface using a tomographic inversion of the 'first break' travel times shown in the lower half. The seed velocity model is uniform horizontally w ith a vertical velocity gradient, how ever layered seed models can also be used if the geological model requires..,.,.a~ ll soo <1203 tus ' <>siaoco c~ OO :ma l tos >SOn rrich.com
Example - Marine Magnetics The following 30 image shows colourized magnetic data draped over a 30 bathymetry in grey-scale. The pre-dredge survey was performed to map historical junk (represented by the small coloured 'blips' in the magnetic image) accumulated over 100 years of industrial activity adjacent to the site. Lack of features in high resolution side scan sonar data indicate the targets are mostly buried. The data was carefully acquired to maintain the sensor close to the seabed and minimize parallax errors in time and towed layback position. Linear anomalies picked up in multiple lines (not visible in th is image) are perfectly aligned. The following image shows a narrow linear magnetic feature extending 600m out from shore, discovered during an archaeological survey. It lies outside the contracted survey areas and was only detected as a result of the Surrich operator's diligence during transit. The square grid marks under-lying the image are SOOm across, and all targets are buried below the seabed. The client was very happy to locate this unexpected feature.
Example - Side Scan Sonar Target Reporting Reports on SSS contacts are rapidly generated in various formats.
