Box 1376 Des Moines 13, Iowa Dear Mr. Atchison: This will confirm our phone con versation this morning to the effect that the C.C.F.A. well No. 2 near Duncombe is now drilling in the Lime Creek Formation at 6', and that you were through the Maple Mill - Aplington - Sheffield sequence at 595 feet. Therefore it should be safe to set your casing at 625 feet, as you now plan. From looking at the log of well No. 1 there should be no more major shale until about 1430 feet in the Decorah-Platteville above the St. Peter. Well No. 1 shows a minor amount of shale from 945' to 965' interbedded with dolomite and from 1120' to 1130', but these should cause no trouble. Please let us know if we can be of further service.
