29 NOEP Ocean Data Limitations 1. Uses secondary data sources 2. Federal data not available to NOEP below county level (proprietary restrictions) 3. Federal data definitions may change 4. Under-represents total Ocean Economy because National Accounts beyond the six categories are difficult to accurately sort out

30 ENOW, BEA, Fisheries, and NOEP 1. BEA, ENOW, STICS, and SOTC provide long-term, government sanctioned data series. 2. NOEP explores gaps and new data. Provides catalyst for changes in government data. 3. NOEP (and soon ENOW): physical output and value data (oil and gas, fish landings, ports, etc.), federal and nonfederal 4. ENOW has non-employer statistics from Census for 6 sectors (~ ½ of all ocean employees) 5. Fisheries Firm and Activity Level Data, output, 6. BEA has personal income data, wage & salary data, input/output. 7. BEA can produce make/take tables.
