Identify the pathogenesis, epidemiology,and host parasite relationship of these parasites. Recognize information about asexual and sexual reproduction, morphology of gametes, mechanism of development in sponges, coelenterates, platyhelminthes, annelida and crustacea with an introduction to the evolution and history of biological sciences 3. Intended learning outcome a) Knowledge by the end of the course, students will be able to: and A1: Describe the morphology and life cycle of parasites of understanding medical importance A2: summarize pathogenesis, clinical signs and symptoms and complications of parasitic infections. A 3 : recognize specific symptoms and signs caused by certain - 1 -
2 parasitic infection A4 : define the preformation theory and the theory of epigenists to current concept of development. A5 : Illustrate the sexual and asexual reproduction. A 6 : list the type of sperm and ova. b) Intellectual skills By the end of the course, students will be able to: B 1: formulate the differences between the eggs and larval stages of certain parasite to reach a proper diagnosis. B2 : Compare between the morphology of parasite B3 : Compare between the larval stages of the major invertebrate phyla. B4 : Discuss the development in sponges, coelenterates, platyhelminthes, annelida and crustacea. c) Professional skills. By the end of the course, students will be able to: C 1 : Use the light microscope to identify the morphology of parasites and their larval stages. C2: Use the light microscope to identify the larval stages of the invertebrates C 3 : examine the larval stages of invertebrates and parasites and the different type of sperm and ova. d) General skills By the end of the course, students will be able to: D1: write reports with the standard scientific guidelines.
