18 Remarks and Prospects R & D of high performance carbon based energy storage materials are important and have a bright future. Optimization of the microstructure, surface structure, pore structure and composition of energy storage materials are expected to improve their energy storage performance. Hierarchical structuring, nano/micro structuring, composite design, etc. are proved to be highly effective. Important synergistic effects between graphene and electrode materials may be particularly promising in the improvement of energy storage performance.
