You are to attempt both the sections.. All questions are compulsory.. All questions of Section A and all questions of Section B are to be attempted separately. 4. Question number 1, in Section A is one mark question. These are to be answered in one word or in one sentence.. Question numbers to in Section A are two marks questions. These are to be answered in about 0 words each. 6. Question numbers 6 to 1 in Section A are three marks questions. These are to be answered in about 0 words each. 7. Question numbers 16 to 1 in Section A are five marks questions. These are to be answered in about 70 words each. 8. Question numbers to 7 in Section B are two marks questions based on practical skills. These are to be answered in brief. SECTION A 1 A passenger in a moving train, tosses a coin, which falls behind him. State the type of motion of the train. 1. Explain Tyndall effect. Which type of solutions show Tyndall effect? 1. Differentiate between true solution and colloids. 4. Classify the following as elements or compounds? Sulphur powder, iron sulphide, carbon monoxide, aluminum.. State two disadvantages of fertilizers. 6. a) What changes occur continuously in a uniform circular motion? b) A circular cycle track has circumference of 14 m with AB as diameter. A cyclist travels from A to B along a circular path with velocity 1.7 m/s. Find the distance and displacement of the cyclist.

Calculate the following from the velocity-time graph given below; a) acceleration within first hours and last hours b) the total distance travelled 60 v 40 km/h t (h) 8. a) When a horse suddenly starts running, a careless rider falls backwards. Give reason. b) State the action and reaction in the swimming action of a swimmer. State the law of inertia. Why do we fall in forward direction if a moving bus stops suddenly and fall in the backward direction if it suddenly accelerates from rest? 9. Derive graphically the equation for position-time relation for an object travelling a distance s in time t under uniform acceleration. Derive graphically the equation for velocity-position relation for an object travelling a distance s in time t under uniform acceleration. 10. Explain with a neat labeled diagram how will you separate a solution of water and acetone? What is crystallization? Why is it better than simple evaporation? Write any two applications of crystallization. 11. Define solubility. When is a solution said to be saturated? ( marks) Identify the solute and solvent in the following. a) Tincture iodine. b) Aerated drinks. 1. What would be the force of attraction if each mass and the distance between them are doubled? 17. a) State Newton s second law of motion. b) How does the second law of motion give us a method to measure force? c) A man pushes a box of mass 0 kg with a force of 80 N. What will be the acceleration of the box due to this force? d) What would be the acceleration if the mass was halved? () a) Define momentum of a body. b) Prove with the help of third law of motion that total momentum of bodies is conserved during collision. c) Car A of mass 100 kg travelling at m/s collides with another car B of mass 1000 kg travelling at 1 m/s in the same direction. After collision the velocity of car A becomes 0 m/s. Calculate the velocity of car B. 18. a. What determine the state of a substance? Suggest a method to liquefy gases. b. Water droplets are observed on the outer surface of a glass tumbler containing ice cold water. Give reason. Write any two differences between evaporation and boiling. 19. (a) Draw a diagram of prokaryotic cell and label on it cell wall, ribosomes, nucleoid, plasma membrane (b) Write one difference between a Prokaryotic cell and Eukaryotic cell.

List the characteristic features when Striated muscle fibres are observed under a microscope. 4. Find the least count of spring balance, if the space between 0 and g marks is divided into 10 equal parts.. Write two precautions taken in the experiment of determining the density of a solid. 6. A mixture of sand, chalk powder and common salt is dissolved in water and then filtered. Name the substance left on filter paper. Name the substance in the filtrate. 7.
